Hello Mr Hibee, I agree, £4.4m is a good price, but why does it have to be to one half of the OF. I heard last nite on the radio his agent mentioned that two other clubs had put in higher bids, but Scott wanted to speak with Celtic. He has the ability to succeed in England and he should have taken the chance to perform at a higher level.

Now we must invest some of the money back into the team, maybe not with big fees but at least increse the wage structure.

 

I agree about the wage structure--we still have plenty of talent in the team, we just need to be able to pay the wages to keep them.

 

Isn't he a Celtic fan? Regardless, the lure of staying in this country with family/friends and playing CL football (something he would not get with the other clubs interested) is a major factor.

It looks like most of the money will be used to fund your new training facilities and possibly upgrading your shed.

 

The 'shed' as you call it, is the best stand in the country, honestly you may laugh, but it has a great atmosphere, i will be gutted when it comes down.

Test yersel against the best week in week out and get far more exposure than playing in the SPL. That would be the way tae the top. Playing for Celtic is hardley going tae get him picked up by Arsenal, United etc Ferguson went tae Blackburn and Petrov went tae Villa, they had plenty international caps & were at the time the best in the league, Boro are on par wi Villa & Blackburn and Reading seem tae be heading in the right direction.​

 

Ask Brown if playing in the CL is pish. He would say no and therein lies one of the reasons for picking Celtic over a mid-table at best English side. He opted for the easy option. He is not the first and certainly won't be the last.

Has definitely taken the easier option. I think he had a very good chance of making a decent impact in the Premiership. He'll do well at Celtic though, it's a very good signing for them.

 

i don't know if he opted for the bad option because he would have gone to reading who very well might be relegated and then he'd be in the championship

 

Middlesbourgh was also an option, plus with the Transfer Window still to open, Hibs should have played hard ball and KO'd the Celtic bid and waited for more interest from England. It has been said 14 clubs were interested. Hibs should have held off and ensured they sold him south. Told him, either go South and earn £25k per week or stay here on your £2k a week till your contract runs out in 2 years, he would have ended up going to England.

 

4.4 million seems like a lot of money, I think Hibs gets the better end of the deal, didn't Strachan orginally bid 4.2 million for Thompson and Brown in January? I don't think that the last 4 months have increased his worth 2.2 million quid. I think that hibs got the benefit of the EPL teams getting huge tv money causing player evaluation inflation. I think that we are going to see stupid money thrown around in England this year causing the Scottish Game, without the benefit of this 30 million quid each, to suffer even more.

 

He looked like a 4.4 million player today, at least.

 

and what if reading get embroiled in a relegation battle as can often happen to teams in their 2nd season in the prem (i.e. wigan). would that have been beneficial to his career then?

if things start going wrong at reading then the first players getting dropped and blamed would have been the new players the cash was spent on.

he's better at celtic where he'll play champions league and also be a first teamer in a league that is gradually starting to improve again even without any sort of TV money whatsoever

 

spurs i could agree with but was he ever a realistic target for them?

i know jol has a hard on for midfielders but they're more interested in CB's at the minute..

 

this could go on and on...

boro are a nowhere club. no european football and the chance of playing in a european competition with them sees to be dwindling with southgate in charge. fair enough with everton and a good manager like davie moyes. i can understand that move as well.

but the only english clubs i know of that were linked with brown where boro and reading and celtic is a much better option than either of those two. but of course that's just my biased opinion..

i never heard or saw any rumours linking him to either everton or spurs tbh.
