from the stewart coming home article "World Cup 2002 hero Brad Friedel, who began his pro career with Columbus, has said the same." the writer probably meant his career in MLS, but that is very misleading and it makes it sounds like he came out of college and straight into MLS.

Damn, why couldn't Bradley get us Vaca?

    Oh yeah, we're not Metros.

  6. It's bad enough the MetroScum have always had their silver spoon shoved up the arse of every other side in MLS. With Bail Out Bob on board there's someone piloting the MetroScum scow that actually has a clue. Ladies & gentlemen, boys and girls - the fix is in.

Yeah, thank heavens the Fire never had to get rid of any players like, say, current Fire player Diego Gutierrez, for example.

Yeah, we got that silver spoon jammed right in there....sure.
At least when your team gets gutted, it happens in December, not in the middle of the season, like has happened to us 2 or 3 times. Idiot.

Ok, ok, I knew I shouldn't have put that last line into my post, and I nearly edited it out too.

Nonetheless, does anyone on this planet think that JV for Stewart is a good trade that is beneficial to Dallas?

This trade is just a shafting waiting to happen.

I don't like the trade. Sure, It'd be cool to have Stewart in Dallas, but my vague sense is that giving up Little Joe Cow in trade is a step down. But I haven't been following Dallas closely enough to give an educated opinion on Little Joe. Maybe you should ask folks on the Burn board to see how it's playing over there.

    stewart to the Burn!

I think it's a good trade. I believe Dallas is one player away from challenging the LA, SJ, and NE as one of the league's elite teams. Stewart could very well be that player. He can play as an attacking mid, on the right, or as a forward, and all of them well. He would give Dallas the ability to line up in so many different ways. Also, he is an intense player, who's attitude would hopefully help the Burn get over the most serious problem: sometimes they dont' show up for big games.

Giving Dallas Stewart plus another player (though I would want Nelson Akawari before Andy Williams) just sweetens the deal. There are enough young Central mids coming up to MLS through college and Brandenton (Gonzalez, Walsh, Gaven, Grabavoy, etc) that losing Vaca is a big deal only if the Burn had no one else that could play there, which is not the case.

Ernie is on a free. Why does he have to be an allocation. A smart team would have submitted a discovery claim on him.

Doesn't a discovery limit the salary for the player to below $100k?

Everyone whose panties are in a wad need to calm the f*** down. This is a MetroStars area writer writing for MetroStars fans. So of course he's going to spin the story as being MetroStars related.

DC gets first crack at Earnie, as they had the worst record. DC needs a striker. So either they'll keep Earnie and play him up front, or they'll trade him for someone like Kreis.

Isn't this the first "official" news that Valderrama isn't coming back? (at least to the Rapids).

I know it's been rumored but this seems to be the final stamp.

    Thanks for the memories, Carlos.

no more el pibe has been rumored a couple of times. Haven't really gotten notificatoin on it yet from a more definitive source.

    Earnie and Quaranta up top

With a MF of : Olsen, Convey, Etch, Kovalenko

and Petke etc. at D should be an entertaining team to watch.
