Re: Re: Re: Re: 12/18/02: Donovan, Arena and Rochester Is the compose key next to the any key? Sachin
Nah, the Burn will be back in the Cotton Bowl this year. This whole tango with Southlake is just to squeeze a better deal out of the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department.
Giants Stadium looks horrible now. Did you see any of that last Sunday? Alphonse:"Somone's building a soccer-specific stadium! That's great! This is the best thing ever!" Gaston:"They're putting grasstroturf in it!" Alphonse: "Oh, that sucks. That's the worst thing ever. Forget what I said before." Cue the "Evils of Grasstroturf" discussion, 250 posts or fewer, please.
None, hopefully. Your honor, we'll just stipulate that Grasstrotuf sucks and move on to the really important stuff, like how radical feminists are killing the USMNT.
There were nearly 500 separate newspapers that ran the Arena and Donovan stories, according to a friend of mine who tracks such things for a PR firm. Not all of them will be on the Web. You have to pay extra to be able to post an AP story online. Baby steps, people.. baby steps. Sachin
and i can tell you that a crap load of them were posted online... i sifted through tons of newspaper stories that were ap or another form of wire story and don't forget mcbride (that was in a ton as well) hell, the tons of wire pickups are a big reason why i often miss stories...
Foxboro seems to get a lot of credit for it's turf, and that's nice and all, but shouldn't Denver get credit as well, especially if you're working on the theory that "new stadium, improved drainage and technology" theory?
I did a Lexis search by month a year a couple of years back-- I don't remember the exact numbers, but I can tell you that 500 wire stories in one day for Bruce Arena is ALOT more than we used to get. But it might be a one-time blip-- what I basically found in the search was that coverage had been basically stagnant. On the other hand, I think MLS has made some progress since a couple of years ago.... Anyone have free Lexis?
Field Turf is NOT a done deal as per Mr. DuRoss: "we have not made a final decision on natural turf or one of the new generation of artifical turf" Frank Duross' Comments on Rhinos Webboards
I had to send Rochester an email. Here is their reply: harles, Thanks you for you suggestions. First of all let me state that we have not committed to using artificial turf at PaeTec Park. We will however look into a more state-of-the-art Field Turf which is much better and even a similar surface to grass. With the weather and the number of events here in Rochester we would not be doing our homework if we didn't at least consider it. In addition the type of turf that we would consider (Field Turf) has been approved by FIFA. We wouldn't install a surface that would preclude us from ultimately reaching our ultimate goals. Thanks again for your support. Eric Trendel Director of Media/Community Relations Rochester Raging Rhinos
