Kasey apt to start in this quarterfinal-round knockout tie in the Carling Cup. And looking to aid his team in doing a much better job than in the 4-0 Premiership defeat to Newcastle at the weekend.

Spurs got into a last-eight position with a 3-1 home win over Manchester City in the fourth round, following up a 1-0 extra-time win over West Ham and a 3-0 away win against Coventry City in the rounds before that.

Middlesbrough have arrived at this stage by beating Everton on PK's in the last round, preceded by wins over Wigan 2-1 away and Brighton 1-0 AET in the previous rounds.

Kickoff is at 11:45 a.m. PT/2:45 p.m. ET (6:45 a.m. Melbourne time for me here).

No TV coverage that I'm aware of, either in the USA or here in Australia; hoping that any of our European-based posters can aid us in any visual PbP duties.

Same old song-and-dance with regard to the webcasts-- both Spurs' and Boro's sites offer streaming audio webcasts via annual pay-subscription packages, but The BBC's Radio Five and CapitalGold have proven to be a bit hit-or-miss with their straming webcast coverage in Carling Cup matches so far this season-- sometimes they don't block a game after kickoff, sometimes they do. Worth a shot, nonetheless.

All the usual text update sources-- Soccernet, sportinglife.com, the BBC, and others-- should provide minute-by-minute updates.

News roundup-- as brief as it might be-- coming right up...

from the above links i read the one about Keller

    i will quote Keller here

"If you are playing well or not, people are always looking but it seems a little strange to me that it is so public all the time at Spurs. If they are proposing to replace me what can I do about that? I don't pick myself. "

Its funny how Spurs are trying to fix what is not broken, they should focus on other areas or dire need like defence. It is not a good situation for Keller if he is made to feel unwanted but expected to peform miracles.

So much for Boro's fantastic defensive record of late... the early goal breaks that down, as long as Spurs can keep their shape in front of Keller for 88 minutes.

Details on the goal, from sportinglife.com's tracker...

Goal by Darren Anderton (Tottenham) left-footed (bottom-left of goal) from left side of penalty area (18 yards).Tottenham 1-0 Middlesbrough. Assist (cross) by Steve Carr (Tottenham) from right channel.

10 minutes in, KK has not had much to do so far. Only taken one goal kick, the shot being from an acute angle and into the side netting.

    Spurs 1, Boro 0

Corner for Spurs, Ledley King with the header on target. Tremendous save by Boro keeper. Out for a corner.

Spurs with 4th corner of the night. Left footed volely by Konchesky, high, deep and not playable. Goal kick, Boro.

Have not heard Keane's name mentioned all that much. Looking at the text tracker, he has made a couple of crosses but not mentioned that often.

I'll try and fill in with the text updates that I have, in the meantime.

Halftime, 1-0 to Spurs, on the second-minute goal to Darren Anderton.

Keller hasn't been forced into any saves yet, and has just been responsible for distribution and organising his defence.

Boro have had chances and half-chances, five shots in all so far, but all their shots have been off-target.

Second half starts, with a couple of subs due to injuries...

    Tottenham -- Doherty for Richards

    Middlesbrough -- Downing for Maccarone

No cards dished out in the first half as well.

And it is not. Must be a problem on the Boro side of things because the Villa/Chelsea match is working.

A problem that the have fixed!

And a problem that broke again!

    And fixed ... again!

Once it's back up and floing well, let me know. Would rather rely on someone with a more accurate description than the text updates I've got here.

Ok, back home with no distractions and working audio.

    Still, 1-0.

Spurs sound like they are playing very defensive. Kanoute is the only man not behind the ball.

Mills with a great cross, cleared by Konchesky.

Mills sounds like he is having a bang up match so far. Whipping in crosses, coming back on defense and winning balls.

    Ricketts with a silly offsides.

Keane inside the area, finds Kanoute, Southgate with the block.

    62 minutes in, 1-0, Spurs.

Boro announcers moaning that they have lost the zip that had opening the second half.

Juninho header off a Mendieta cross... corner kick.

Shot off the corner by Juninho "charged down" not sure what that means or by whom but that is what the man said.

Keller picks out a cross... so far that is all the mention he has gotten.

Spurs about to make a change. Poyet to come on.

Corner to Boro. Spurs clear the danger but only momentarily.

Keane and Kanoute with a 2 v 2 but Cooper kills the play with a nice defensive move.

Boro free kick does not get over the wall... Keane breaks out.

Keane and Zenden have a brief little discussion, nothing major.

    71 minute.

Cooper comes up with his second big defensive play in last 5 minutes or so as R. Ricketts beats his man only to be met by Cooper.

Keller comes out to the edge of the box to retreive a ball just before M. Ricketts can reach it. Long bot upfield.

Temp and pace are picking up bit
