I'm surprised that some of those questions were actually let through for Nick to answer. I was expecting a very PC chat. So, what answer if any, surprised the lot of you?
he had a lot of BS answers, praising himself the MFO and coaching, what surprised me him telling someone he will personaly take phone calls one on one, like we should belive that
Im only posting this cause I love you. When a group of people want to change something, let say for example, get Howard Stern off the air or make sure a Reagan biography doesn't run on TV they don't start a a petition. They contact their advertisers. Hit em where it hurts. Not in the 500+ "cheap seats" ticket sales. But in the "corporate sponsors". You want a reaction? Go that route. ((I dont want Howard off the air, nor did I care about Reagan, just examples before I get flammed))
It is so funny to read what Nick has to say, it is almost as if Im reading Bush/Cheney type answers. People post facts on MF, things that came out his own mouth, and he calls it false claims. Now he is calling these names fake because thats the only thing he can do, think about it, if you were at the end of this petition thats what you would do too. Plus I just got word from a reliable source that he had his minions plant the wrestling names so that he'll be able to say that those names were fake when he went on this chat. He knew this question will come up and in fact was the sole reason why he decided to do the chat, because he felt that the petition was making him look bad. If it was all fake names, then why did he even address it? If so little people actually cared about him flushing the team down the toilet why did he decide to take these questions and hold this chat? because he KNEW there are enough people out there who dont like him and is afraid that it will get out to his bosses, so the only thing he can do is try and make the petition look like its not representative of the teams fans which it is. 800 people may not seem like a lot but alot of these people also bring friends, and if you take into account that NO ADVERTISING or promotion has been done to promote this petition other than post on here, it is amazing that you even got 300 names let alone 800.
I'm not going to be a Nick apologist, because this stadium bs is beyond belief, but I have sent him emails and had them answered.
Or Bush & his minions now. Every player-and field performance-related question was irrelevant because Nick has nothing to do with players anymore (as it should be). Beyond that, I don't think any of it was particularly bad or good -- they probably should have rehearsed the petition question in advance since his answer was ludicrous. But given the general lack of info sharing that occurs within this organization, I don't think that anyone really could have expected a revolutionary statement or two. This was a fan pep talk.
Also, if you note Kevin Payne (aguably the best GM in MLS(?)) sidestepped a number of questions too. Some things (players you are looking at, stadium deals in progress) you just can't talk about. Everything else...well, it's like ripley. Believe it or not, your choice.
The fact that Nick has nothing to do with players anymore does NOT mean his statements are irrevelant. You really think Walker and the team isn't/wasn't affected by Nicks comment?
Maybe some tracking of IP's or something will find one source for most of the wrestler names. The following are wrestler names (though of course other people out there could have them too) Rick Steiner (Steiner brothers) Rick Martel(l) ("the model") (Steve Williams - probably a coincidence, wouldn't remove, Stone Cold and another wrester) (Jerry King - ?Lawler - wouldn't remove yet) Jim Hellwig (Ultimate Warrior) Guido I was wary to put my name on the list (though I thought I did), cause I figured someone might "investigate"! again, these are "possible" wrestler names. again, some kind of IP tracking could really help. i haven't followed wrestling for years, so I missed any of the newer names I didn't see the deleted ones, but maybe the wrestlers had similar "quotes"?
With the way online polls have always been stuffed around here are people really surprised an online "petition" holds no validity whatsoever?
If the poll carried no weight, why was the GM answering questions about it on the league web site? I don't expect AEG to fire the guy on the back of it, or for it to result in massive changes in the front office, but if it truly had no impact, MLSNET wouldn't be letting questions through about it. If it was meaningless and insignificant, why acknowledge it? I hate to go West Wing on you here, but if you are answering questions about whether or not to ignore it...you aren't ignoring it.
ummm... my guess is he answered questions about it because he was asked. What do you think? The asking about it doesn't make it any more valid than if you don't ask about it unless you're Fox News. Then you can take baseless claims by a fringe group like the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, repeat them 24/7 until they enter the mainstream dialogue and are considered valid even if every single shred of paper the government possesses says otherwise. Everyone knows internet polls, petitions etc are for entertainment purposes only. They have no scientific validity and carry disclaimers telling you so. This isn't even a point most rational people will dispute.
There were lots of questions he was asked and didn't answer, though. I put several questions through ahead of time, and not one got a response. So why did he respond to this one?
