Como 1 - 2 Milan Ambrosini 19 (M), Pecchia 21 (C), Shevchenko 41 (M) This game was just as I thought it would be, a struggle. First place versus last place usually produces a romp but not with this Milan team. They play better against the good teams and play down to the bad ones. It didn't help that this was Milan's 3rd match in 5 days with the stupid friendly they played on Thursday in Quatar. The MOM was Massimo Ambrosini, he scored once and setup the other but he did more than that. He stopped at least 7 dangerous counters by Como single-handedly by making a great tackle. This was by far his best match of the season. Maybe he heard all the praise that has been given to Redondo on his return to form and wanted to show that he is just as good. Maldini was also great again, nothing new here. Rivaldo played in Rui's role behind the front two and didn't show well. Rui plays the position to perfection but Rivaldo doesn't have the ball control or speed that Rui has shown this year. I don't expect Rivaldo to play this role anymore, he will have to fight with Pippo and Sheva for one of the two spots up front. The best news today was finally Milan scored two goals in game for the first time in a while. Still top of the table! FORZA MILAN!!!
This Milan team has interesting charactaristics. Obviously, it is star-studded and quality-wise is up there with the best clubs anywhere. However, on many occasions it has also shown a very workmanlike character, grinding out results and really digging deep for wins. There was little pretty about the Dortmund, or Como games, but on the same token I never really thought we wouldnt win - there is a quality about this team which gives me so much confidense it will find a way to win somehow. Class, Quality, Flair and workmanlike with grit. Very rare to find a team with all these qualities.
