Players know the MLS Drill - Fresno Bee Adu's Advent, New Stadiums boost Soccer - Denver Rocky Mountain News American Youths ousted - Washington Times US loses to Argentina in Overtime 2-1 - L.A. Times
Oh my God ..after reading the Rocky Mountain news business, yes business page, article about MLS and soccer in American it can be definitively stated that both the sky is falling and hell hath frozen over. Wow. I can't believe it. Additionally, even though Jones's article was brief give him some props for writing something when no other national paper did. Thanks Jim for the links.
Jim: Thanks. The Republic of Texas is grateful to your waking up so early... Did you get straight "A's"? Hope so...
Up yours Grahame Jones. Seriously, go pound sand. You are a worthless piece of skin, a void of both talent and originality. I did not need to read your article to know its contents. I tend to avoid your work entirely these days, as rarely is it worth the time to log into your paper's site. If someone could provide me a link to Grahame's insightful and timely analysis of the rest of the U20 games, I would gladly eat these words. If someone who bothered to read the article would quote and paste the part where he congratulates the US on the accomplishment of making it to the quarterfinals, where he talks about the questionable circumstances that led to the Argentina goal and overtime, and/or where he highlights a few of the future stars from the US team, I will gladly change my opinion of him from this very instant and forever. But it aint gonna happen. So why do I bother? Because I seriously believe that US soccer will advance more quickly when the piss drivel written by hacks like Jones, Trecker, and Gardner no longer gets a read. They do far more to hurt the US game than they do to assist its development. I would rather have 20 Jim Rome's bashing this game from an obvious antagonist point of view than one Grahame Jones damn the game of soccer in the US with his incredibly faint praise.
amen brother. i've cancelled my subscription to SA b/c of gardner. i've stopped reading the LA times stories a long long time ago.
Republic of Texas salutes the open wisdom of whoever gave up on on Gardner and Jones... Pair of rasputinos...
Re: Re: 12/13/03: Palm But this was an odd comment attributed to Craig Waibel: There's still a long way to go. Attendance declined slightly this year, and there is no regular television coverage of games -- something crucial for the longterm development of the league, Waibel said.
Re: Re: Re: 12/13/03: Palm I suspect Craig is speaking of the fact that Earthquakes do not have a local TV contract. They get coverage when ESPN/ABC picks up their games, but no local outlet for the others.
Re: Re: Re: Re: 12/13/03: Palm Not true. All but a couple of the Quakes road games that weren't on ESPN2 or ABC were on Fox Sports Net Bay Area or KICU this last season.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 12/13/03: Palm Thanks for the correction Jefe - I should have checked my memory, but got lazy. Sorry. Only now I haven't got the vaguest idea what Craig Waibel was trying to say.
