the merseyside teams are really putting our results against them into stark context in the past week...
i'm also watching a women's CONCACAF qualifier that is 0-7 before 25 mins. don't think i've ever seen anything this lopsided
i have to say i am not a fan of the world cup seeding. very clear what the intended outcome is there. and i was already not a fan of making the qualifying easier
https://www.skysports.com/football/...ero-from-ecuador-side-independiente-del-valle didn't think i'd see another twin deal in my lifetime but here we are. they're smart shopping in Ecuador
Goes along with the point you made in the transfer thread. I love watching the youth tournaments. I love seeing the worlds best before they are known. I remember Messi at 15 or 16 at the u20 world cup. Same tourney with John Obi Mikel and some other amazing ballers. This last part was just a ranodm rant, but you get me? Anyway, we got Orozco from Latam recently. Arsenal got these guys. We
Always funny seeing the difference between the ones you think are going to make it and then the ones that make it big that didn't quite stand out at the time.
yes, totally agree. i think the 2005 world championship was particularly special. i think that was Messi, Agüero, Falcao, Afellay and another big name i can't recall now. also, not sure what point you wanted to complete at the end there
But Wenger said there wouldn't be a dropoff of quality. As soon as he started getting those Saudi (FIFA) checks he really slotted into a corporate shill role nicely.
i am very interested to see how this is judged and the reaction to it. Carragher called for Salah to speak up but i doubt he had this in mind. from the outside what i see is someone who doesn't speak often (which helps him) but when he does he has zero problem putting the club and/or coach under HUGE pressure. so many other players would be absolutely pilloried for this but he's perceived as a nice guy and has the padding of his status at liverpool. this seems like a great start to tarnishing a legacy. it didn't take much for the liverpool fans to turn on Trent who was in the same contractual boat as Salah but actually kept quiet. attackers are valued far more than defenders in general in this game though
I wonder how the rags will take this - I don't keep up with literally any news here in the UK for good reason, but with the current climate of Farage it'll be interesting to see whether Salah can gain more traction than TAA on that side of support
Also one real positive on this is he's tanked the transfer fee from Saudi's potentially. Like before it felt like Liverpool would get a close to 100m fee and could then go out and buy a replacement, but this makes it seem much more Ronaldo type scenario. Where they get a 20-30m fee and all that money just tops up the wages.
https://www.skysports.com/football/...-sending-grossly-offensive-social-media-posts the UK is an utter mess. like him or not this is completely dumb. people getting arrested for tweets and private texts based purely on how offended some hyper sensitive folks are? pathetic. this is what they decided was the best use of police resources. woke nonsense at is finest
