Equating shit talking to racism is silly, but ranking racism as one being worse than others is silly too. It’s only altruistic if all are equally bad.

Yeah that is overkill. When you add in the fact that Saka was hugging the touchline, so that meant I saw TAA narrow at times, [deeper than those cams, but still].

I feel like its either Foden or Palmer. Even if you think you're trying to break down what ppl percieve as a difficult Greek team. Who would you replace and with who?

Or would you change the shape?

My England XI would be [Kane out]

    Anyone but Pickford

    TAA
    Stones
    Levi
    Rico L.

    Rice
    Bellingham/Angel

    Saka
    Cole
    Gordan

    Watkins

I dont like Jared Bowen, but his style, his skillset is neccessary considering all the technicians who love the ball played to their feet. He and Gordon help provide balance.

The downside is taking Jude away from the role he's been successful in. TBH, I've always thought he was more of a 8/runner/box to box.

Also, Cole over Foden right now because of form.

I agree with those who say that the successful international managers play a system and in that system players have roles and you fit players into those roles.

The english media and fans will always want to shoehorn all the best players into a team and the roles / system be damned.

So dont try and play two #10s either choose Foden or Bellingham (Bellingham for me).

Dont play more than two wing-forwards ie only two of Saka / Palmer / Grealish / Gordon etc.

Also ffs play a striker. Watkins deserves to start over an unfit Kane anyway. So is hugely frustrating he doesnt start when Kane injured.

Plus two proper CMs. Posted a vid about how good Angel is in that role and he gets neither a start or even a substitute appearance. Should have been Rice & Gomes to start.

By all means tweak things a bit and try something more attacking (that is to be applauded) but that lineup and the changes was a bit all over the place.

With Mainoo unavailable, the Angel thing pissed me off the most

I think he's awesome. He wouldnt be just dumped to the bench, but the guys I put there imo are more experienced and probably better players at the moment. I still see Kobe getting starts in tourney play. Just not being the no. 1 '8' on the depth chart.

I would rather not play him as a 6 if it can be helped, or unless its against lower quality opponent.

    I have a theory that palmer becomes a 9

kane is looking washed so I like the idea of

    …………….palmer

    Gordon……………Saka

    ………rice…..Jude

    ……………Gomes

gittens is looking like a talent at lw and even Sancho who looks better at Chelsea recently if Gordon doesn’t pick up

Thank you. I don't get why Foden starts every match guaranteed. He's clearly one of those English guys who can't get it up for the NT. MGW deserves a shot ahead of him.

Foden has the best PR people, I am convinced. Whenever England fail everybody will get dragged but him and when they succeed somehow despite not going or any assist he played a key role and was "active"

Saka stats put him to shame on similar games. Rice has now scored as many goals as him and (even though obvs played more) Maguire has scored more as CB.

Wouldnt mind if Foden was creating for others but that isnt the case. He actually detracts bc he stops others like Bellingham and Kane making more productive use of that key #10 space.

As sub for Bellingham as used be Carsley last game is the right call for him for now.

Angel assist yesterday for the key first goal was a thing of beauty.

it's easy to look good in the city side that is dominant and creates plenty of pockets.

the guy has talent but night and day difference outside of city. Rúben Dias is another

Angel Gomes looks a great player

you guys should buy him back as he could definitely play as a pivot allowing Mainoo to get forward

I would look at him when Partey goes for Arsenal, he is so comfortable taking the ball on the turn and is a great passer, just a bit little

That's the thing about youth development, he was kind of stifled here and when he left I think he went to the Portuguese second division so he needed a few more years of seasoning before we got this version of Angel.

    According to Yahoo UK

He moved on a free transfer to Lille, spent a year on loan at Boavista and is now a regular in Ligue 1, has made his Champions League debut and has now been handed his second start for England.

You can thank Ed and Richie and as always the Glazers. He spent 14 years with us and when he was really close for some reason we decided not to send them out on loan but keep him at the club playing Premier League 2 and under 21 games. He basically needed another 2 years of proper seasoning getting 80 to 90 minutes a game for 30 to 35 games a season to take his development to the level we see now.

His Lille contract ends in the summer, so he can negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs (which given he is in France includes us) in January.

Dunno if he would always be a starter for us, but we need depth and he brings different qualities we sure need. Would sign him up on a free for sure - no-brainer.

Erisken will leave at the end of his season so Gomes will make sense. Davies and Sane both will be free agents as well. Some good players up for grab but given our current predicament we shouldnt be on their wishlist or at least way down the order.

long before all that the obvious question is why would Gomes want to rejoin United ahead of all the other clubs he could join?

    there isn't an obvious answer

Does his family still live in Manchester? Only reason I can see beyond overpaying.

Foden was standout for City last season. He can't get it on for England. English press think he's the new Gazza. If Pep takes over, my guess is he will find his best form with England, but he will never be Gazza.

England have 2 top players; Bellingham and Kane. The rest don't know what they're doing. Look lost. They're not used to being so free. They come from teams where every meticulous detail is laid out for them and all of a sudden they play for England and have to think, talk and figure things out on their own.

I agree about this. Saka the game flows through him he's also given freedom. For England he is too shy to the dribbling that he does at club level. Foden we all know he is a system player.

Palmer is promising let's see. But I agree the rest don't have much impact. But it is the same for many players in the NT.

Saka is also up there talent wise but England love using Walker who is an awful attacking fullback and then the cm doesn’t overload to get Saka free like ode does at Arsenal and white

The England set up is inferior to club level management, as are most other nations

Saka has plenty of one on one opportunities in England’s setup. The fact is that he takes on far fewer opponents when playing for England. Whether that’s due to instructions or personal insecurity is debatable.
