so chelsea would pay for Félix which means they would indirectly pay for Álvarez, get Gallagher sold as pure profit but they end up with another dud winger on the books for now. Atlético can't afford Álvarez otherwise, which i questioned from the start. and this quite likely helps city somehow with the books. long term i don't see anything other than chelsea losing out but they seem determined to do this
Fees must be amortized on the books for no more than 5 years. However, contracts/wages can be longer if a club choose. That was the change.
But the fee disparity between Alvarez and the Omorodion deal was significant. 50m difference. So a sudden pivot to the vastly more expensive Felix doesn't add up in that theory. There must be other things we're not accounting for.
https://www.skysports.com/football/...ico-madrid-sign-forward-from-man-city-for-82m well Félix has to happen now surely
They are no longer financial doping in secret. They are cooking the books like Julia Childs right in front of us!!
https://www.skysports.com/football/...-in-doubt-after-samu-omorodion-deal-collapses unsurprising. chelsea have tried to force him out amongst others with the Sancho treatment. my guess as to what has happened is at first everyone else needed to win trade to balance books and were initially happy to play with chelsea but due to their massive overspending they ended up losing in the game of PSR musical chairs while everyone else did what they needed to. now, they've had to outsource the win trading abroad and are finding the terms of doing so much harder. the Gallagher deal was essentially a swap for Omorodion and is mostly irrelevant. the key move seems to be if they take Félix to help Atlético with Álvarez. i don't believe Atlético can afford that normally and definitely not with the new stadium to pay for. maybe they both end up losing here which is fine by me
That whole Alvarez to Atletico transfer is highly suspect IMO. His transfer fee goes from €21m two years ago to €75 after scoring just 20 Prem goals in 2 seasons. Wouldn't surprise me if some Abu Dhabi sponsorship of Atletico suddenly emerges soon.
one more mystery to add to the list: the Osimhen Lukaku swap. makes zero sense. unless significant cash goes to Napoli i can't see it. Napoli are usually very astute in their dealings
well, looks like we've had our first horror injury already. Danilo from Forest. saw a social media comment saying bone pierced skin. complete ankle or shin break jumping for the ball. they had the sheet up to obscure the view. hopefully he recovers well
Yeah best we could do, but really need to rebuild the federation from again and get the soccer moms and chuck blazers out, and bring in foreigners to work with the people who actually care about the sport in this country. A manager that wont give a ******** about picking MLS players or not.
Bordeaux, fini? Saw this on the Roma board. Stan Collymore explained what happened there. It's a bit of read and you need to open the page on X to see the full post. I contacted Bordeaux owner, Gérard Lopez about 2 years ago when it was evident that the club was struggling. Soft spot for them as I'd played ( swapped Jean Pierre Papin's shirts both UEFA Cup legs) against them and have spent a good amount of time in what is a great city. Chelsea starting with Lavia, Caceido AND Enzo as part of a MF 3. Interesting experiment there. Thinking it might be a little short on creativity and MF goals for a 433 longer term.
Most teams (esp including us) rightly setup midfield differently for City. If you dont they just do their inverted fullbacks thing and overload you through the middle.
City actually win without Rodri. Media fawning over Pep “bravery” & “intelligence” in giving his Spanish & English players an extra week off despite the fact he is the only manager with the financially doped depth of squad to be able to
Chelsea squad unrest already with Sterling’s People releasing a statement questing why he was left out of the lineup. Meanwhile Toney left out due to “transfer interest”
Maresca basically said post game Sterling isn't in his plans when questioned about him missing from the squad.
