Not ideal, but hits most of things I want out of the coach. I will be incredibly disappointed with anyone with a lesser profile than him. I havent followed either coaching career closely, but my gut says that Viera might be a better "coach" but I would still prefer Henry for reasons stated.

Yeah, I agree with this line of thinking. This idea that a top tier coach, who is used to having the top echelon of talent at his disposal, can transform our good, but not great, talent pool is questionable.

We need a coach who is used to working with less talent and making lemonaide out of lemons.

That’s a strong statement, btw. But we are not as talented as many posters here think we are. We’re a middling team with gaps in major positions - goal keeper, striker and center backs.

How is this any different than what happens every day in European clubs right now?

Well for one you are talking about national teams. Totally different coaching and scouting demands.

How is that a unique circumstance? According to FIFA, there are 210 national teams on the planet. We are currently ranked 16, Mexico 17, Panama 35, and Canada 40.

For starters, most high level national teams are working from a local league, usually a handful of clubs with established identities and playing styles. The highest level national teams do not have to do much scouting at all because they pull players from the top CL teams and there is little question about those players because they are widely known and understood.

There are some "Pochettino will be announced as USMNT coach next week" rumors going around Twitter.

MLS media taking offense. The nerve they had to pitch Berhalter as a tactical genius. I wonder if this happens if they will go back to their Klinsmann play book.

The important thing is that we left nothing on the table at the coaching position. If things go bad in 26, we don't have to wonder what could have happened if we hsd a better coach.

Are you saying Men in Blazers is MLS media?

That makes no sense in light of what they posted.

Can you actually post links to MLS media taking offense to the Poch hire?

    No.

Just check the comments and quote tweets. I think I only saw responses from Alexi and MLSist.

Another thing ,=...... The USMNT might be a stepping stone job to head coach at ...... Inter Miami ..... or NYCFC. Both of which I expect to be top 10 clubs globally in terms of value.

    wut

I don't disagree about the potential future value of NYFC or Inter Miami in the future, but Pocchettino could get any job in the world depending on the timing of the vacancy.
