Finalists for 2004 GK of the Year
    Jon Busch
    Joe Cannon
    Kevin Hartman

    All-Star Game Starting GK's
    Henry Ring
    Pat Onstad

    Best GAA
    1. Bo Oshoniyi (0.89 in 9 gm*)
    2. Nick Rimando (1.00 in 13 gm)
    3. Tony Meola (1.05)
*Oshoniyi was 190 mins. short of the official minimum; since he also has a 0.67 GAA in 270 playoff minutes, I give him the benefit of the doubt.

    Best C/P avg
    1. Jeff Cassar (5.79)
    2. Tony Meola (5.10)
    3. Matt Reis (4.68)

Among the league leaders and honorees above are ten different keepers from nine different teams. Tony Meola is the only one listed twice. There is only one MLS starter who doesn't make any of the lists above ...

    US National Team Regular

Rumors of his crappy season confirmed?

Some of it was definitely crappy defense, but it he must have a very low save percentage as well. MLS didn't publish it exactly, but he must have faced almost all of the 193 SOG against the MetroStars this year and only made 99 Saves, something barely over 50%, well below the keepers on the "league leaders" list.

    Re: Nick says

Joe Cannon aside, this just shows that there were few truly standout preformances in MLS this year. I think this is partly due to national team callups, and possibly because so many good players left the league in the past year, making things more even. Who knows.
