The USA finishes unbeaten in semifinal-round qualifying play within CONCACAF, and on top of Group 1, after a 1-1 home draw against Jamaica in Columbus.

Eddie Johnson gets the Americans' goal, scoring for the third match on the trot and his fifth during this brief stretch.

Next up, see who we're playing when the Hex opens.

    Discuss.

Landon Donovan was invisible. Pablo had a Monster Game. Eddie Johnson... can he score or what?

Dempsey looking like a vast improvement over Corrales during his 25 minutes.

    Spector looking good.

Rough game for Gooch and Sanneh. Gibbs was ok. Albright did well.

EJ looking great. Great combinations with other players.

Pablo was a deserving MOM. What a warrior out there.

Not a great preformance, but what you would expect from a team that hasn't played together, is made out of prospects and fringe players, and in poor conidtions. That was a crap call on Gooch, but its CONCACAF, so you can't expect quality reffing.

I didn't get to watch, dammit. I had to sit and read the matchtracker. Dempsey did OK? How did Spector look? Take out the yellows and how did Gooch look? Now put them back in; was he a dumbass? How did EJ look when he was called to track back on defense more after the ejection?

Still trying to figure out what Corrales was doing in there.

Overall I thought the team played more than adequate. Would have preferred a victory but we are in so what the hey.
Albright played better than expected. Sanneh played about as I expected (not t hat great imho). Onyewu had some ups and downs but I expect to see a lot more of him the next round. Gibbs played very also. Very happy with his performance. Ralston did very well this time around. Would have liked to see more fire from Donovan. He just seemed to be going through the motions. Mastroeni was great on both sides of the ball. McBride and Johnson worked very well together which surprised me. I thought that McBride would not play up to his standards but I was happy with his performance.

For the subs, I really liked what I saw from all 3. Made the most of their time on the field and should give Bruce a lot to think about between now and Feb. 9.

Anyone else think that the kit they wore tonight should be our Nats' permanent #1 kit?

Spector looked confident. He broke up a couple of plays deep in our own end and also displayed some nice skill on the ball as he weaved between multiple Jamaicans before laying off a pass for a teammate.

Where was our midfield? Nobody in the center once Jamaica subbed in the 25th minute. No speed on the flanks. Frankly we should have put Jamaica out of their misery in the 1st half. We let them into the game by not controlling the center of the field.

I want to see more of Spector. I liked his little bit of offensive flair near the end. I think he did better than average on D, too. Keep him coming, Bruce.

EJ looked very tired by the time he was taken out. However, I think his help on D was adequate.

Yeah, I agree with you. They really stand out and are much, much better than the cookie-cutter uniforms that they usually wear.

Bruce likes to have at least one talentless player on the pitch at all times while Armas is down. Gets the players ready for his return.

That was a great call on Onyewu. He was clearly trying to handle the ball. There were many things wrong with this game but the handball call was not one of them.

Some say that tieing is like kissing your sister, well a tie for Jamiaca is like your sister punching you in the face.

    Classic, Rob.

Huge switch from our normal play. Usually we're overloaded on the left side, tonight it was almost like we had no left midfielder. Ralston played the right wing and Corrales, Donovan, and Mastroeni played central. Looked like Gibbs was trying to push up on the left to fill the hole, but also had to remember that he was playing left back and had to get back every time.

Would have definately like to see someone other than Ramiro Corrales starting.

Tony Sanneh- you better get it together quick, or you will not even be considered for US camps.

Gooch had a rough game. Good in the air. About as good as Sanneh, except for the cards.

Fuller smoked him on the throw-in that led to their goal. (he gets beat on the throw, Corrales 'supports' him with some weak, but obvious PK in the box)

I was hoping that we could beat up on Panama at least one more time.

Another game between the US and Jamaica that's tortuous to watch. That's one good thing about Jamaica being eliminated from the next round.

Result, winning streak continues, we're through to an unimpressive hex.

Not the prettiest game, but we got it done.

    Eddie Johnson for right back.

I am afraid that at this point of his career, Sanneh already filled that role.
