Galaxy's goal was not offside the goal had touched the ball. Otherwise, this was a great match with intensity, suspens, beautiful football especially for morelia they deserved to win if you look at the face of the game but los angeles must achieve the perfect hold up with this goal which was valid http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg860/scaled.php?tn=0&server=860&filename=3byi.jpg&xsize=640&ysize=640 If there is offside here i kill myself
The referee must be sanctioned like in europe when they do big mistakes. An big mistakes like that which cost 3 points it's inacceptable at this level even if LA didn't deserve to win but in football it's not the one who dominate who win but also mistakes of referees are part of football and it means galaxy has not done all that was needed to avoid this error.
even if keane were offside the goal repulses the ball and cancelled the offside. In all cases there is goal
Not True! If Keane would have been offside’s on the initial shot, It would not matter that the GK touched the ball, because the offensive player is taking advantage of his initial offside’s positioning. But as the picture shows, Keane was not offside’s so the Goal should have counted.
It is getting pretty clear who is going on in this group. LA Galaxy and Morellia. The other teams can't get it together. Montagua is horid. The Galaxy shoud get at least a tie next time against Aleujense. The they are home against Morellia. I do beilive Brue Arena will send the full crew out for that one. He wil want to beat them at home.
If LDA can beat Morelia at home they can certainly beat the Galaxy. Nothing is clear in this group. Will Beckham travel to Costa Rica?
Just out of curiosity, who is in first right now? Wiki shows LA being in first due to tie breakers but the CCL site itself lists Morelia in first. If the below are the correct tie breakers, it appears that the CCL Site, http://www.concacafchampions.com/page/CL/Schedule/0,,12856,00.html might be wrong · Greater number of points earned in matches between the teams concerned · Greater goal difference in matches between the teams concerned · Greater number of goals scored away from home in matches between the teams concerned · Reapply first three criteria if two or more teams are still tied · Greater goal difference in all group matches · Greater number of goals scored in group matches · Greater number of goals scored away in all group Matches · Drawing of lots
Head to head results in this case are all the same. All three teams have won and lost against each other canceling themselves. Where did you see that tie breaker rule by the way? I got the tie breakers from this document, page 6, from last years competition. Are you saying they changed the tie breaker rules for this years competition? http://www.concacaf.com/staticFiles/e7/52/0,,12813~152295,00.pdf
· Greater number of points earned in matches between the teams concerned Is this between all 4 teams or just the 3 tied? If if it is all 4 then there is not group leader here. If this means between Alajuarense, Galaxy and Morelia, results between them lost 1 won 1 so 3 points each. · Greater goal difference in matches between the teams concerned If this means all 4 teams in the group then Morelia is first with +4; LA +3 and Alajuaresnse +1 If it means only the 3 top teams, LA should be ahead since they are +1 (2-0 over Alajuaarense) the other 2 teams are at 0 GD. · Greater number of goals scored away from home in matches between the teams concerned Here Alajuarense would be leading if it means all 4 teams, since they scored 4 away goals. If it means only the top 3 teams LA would be ahead since they are the only team to score away from home. · Reapply first three criteria if two or more teams are still tied This is the important one, how do we interpret this line? Does this mean, first you must include all 4 teams in the tie breakers, if they are still tied then you drop the teams not tied and do the above steps again? · Greater goal difference in all group matches · Greater number of goals scored in group matches · Greater number of goals scored away in all group Matches · Drawing of lots
100% certain this is just for the three tied teams. Many of the tiebreakers are constructed such that beating up on the weak sister in the group won't help much unless a whole bunch of tie breakers still won't unlock a winner.
Seems to me that "between the teams concerned" means between the tied teams. So LA should be ahead. And this one is going to go down to the wire, and could very well come down to just exactly that -- GD between the hth games. If LA can pull off an away tie next week, that will be a huge service break.
Yes, the rules have me confused. If we read it as only the 3 teams that are tied then LA should be first and I believe Morelia second. But if we read it as first we compare all 4 teams and where they stand, only if after we compare all 4 teams we still have a tie then we compare only the teams tied. In this case Concacaf is correct and Morelia should be winning the group. I believe we had something similar a few years ago with Toluca and Montreal.
Ok it was 2008-2009! If we look at the Concacaf website they show Montreal First with the same amount of points as Atlante. Montreal has +5 GD and Atlante has +3. But when we look at the quarterfinal match-ups, Atlante matches up against a 2 second place team and Montreal matches up against a group winner. If we look at the head to head, Atlante won at home 2-1 and tied in Montreal 0-0. So this means that the Concacaf website is incorrect in the way they display the group positions (maybe their programming is not up to date with their rules) So right now LA is first place in the group because they have +1 GD and they also scored an away goal. Maybe we should E-mail concacaf to correct their programing.
So after several years of delay we finally saw the *Beckham effect* in CONCACAF play. At this point the Galaxy must wish they would have left him in LA... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw01uQTIxkU"]Alajuelense 1-0 LA Galaxy CONCACAF All Goals & Highlights 21.09.11 (HD) - YouTube[/ame]
We are all rooting for Motagua tonight. Not that I think they will win but if they can hold the Monarcas to a draw we are still in fine shape. I do however think we should have won or at least tied the game. There is an artifical turf practice field at the HDC. I don't know if they practice on it. We have to play hard next Wenesday. Noting but a victory will do us any good. We need to have everone of our regulars to play. And find someone to replace Becks. Any suggestions?
