Which players are considered the 10 Greatest Dutch Players in history? The obvious ones were Cruyff, Van basten and Gullit. Who are the others??? Neekens, Bergkemp??
Abe Lenstra, Faas Wilkes, Coen Moulijn, Bep Bakhuys are other big names from the past. Ofcourse Neeskens should be in and Willem v Hanegem. Frank Rijkaard, Ruud Gullit, Marco v Basten, Dennis Bergkamp, R&F de Boer, Patrick Kluivert, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Edgar Davids. There are some more.
IIRC, the book Brillant Orange calls Johnny Rep the second best Dutch player ever. Not that I would know.
Thanks..... I actually have not heard some of the players mentioned. I am surprised many of the players mentioned are still active.
1) Cryuff 2) Rep 3) van Basten 4) Moulijn 5) Lenstra 6) Gullit 7)Rijkaard 8) Bergkamp 9) TBD 10) TBD 11) You have to have 11
I'd add: 9)Ronald Koeman--at one time was the best free kick taker in the world 10) Edgar Davids- ultimate midfield destroyer 11)Van Der Sar-- cause you need a goalkeeper
Yeah, Hans van Breukelen should be added to the list, I suppose. After all, he's the man between the posts for Oranje's only trophy, Euro 88. And what of Piet Keizer ?
I haven't been around that long, so this list is not comprehensive, but the top 10 Dutch players that I know of are: Johan Cruyff Ruud Gullit Marco Van Basten Dennis Bergkamp Ronald Koeman Edgar Davids Ruud Van Nistelrooy Patrick Kluivert Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink Clarence Seedorf
Frieslander's useless fact of the day: Brooklyn, NY was named after the town of Breukelen in the Netherlands.
Wow - never knew that. (Useless fact #2) On Ellis Island there was a sign in the Immigration museum that said the word "Hunky Dory" was of Dutch origin. Wonder if Bowie knew that...
Konterman ?? Urgh - he isn't that good. He was a starter for the first few games at Euro2000 but then he dissapeared. Not even a regular starter at Rangers, this season.
Sonic I was kidding, hence the smiley face. ;-) Konterman sucks. He only started in the first few games at Euro 2K because Stam was hurt. He played terribly too, thank God Stam came back.
