Glad someone is starting today. Gio with another hat trick of assists, to show managers all over Europe they need to play their yanks!
Started the game pretty far out left. I really don't like when he is pushed all the way out to the touchline. Switched to the right and a little narrower, and he's having much more impact.
The replay looked a little less red because he came in a little from the side. But yeah, pretty close.
This kid is just so absurdly good for his age. At 17, he should not be directing the attack of a club like BVB, against a side like Zenit, in a competition such as the Champion's League - much less doing it really well. And yet here we are
BVB should really send in more crosses against these packed back lines. They can't pass it into the net everytime.
Gio with a near miraculous pass out to Haaland who kinda just blows it. Haaland doesn't have nearly the confidence with his right foot as he does his left on plays like that.
I’m pretty critical at times of Reyna, but so far you can make a case that he’s been the best player on the pitch tonight.
Nothing spectacular, but he's moving, he's filling space (TWSS), he's dragging defenders, he's directing others to pass, he's calling for it when it's neccesary...I mean he's the heart of the attack, he's dictating. Even if he's not doing anything special on the ball (and he almost had a beautiful assist that he just barely missed with his through ball), it's just incredible watching this match orbit around him
oh wait I almost forgot the volley golazo he missed by THIS much. Talk about a potential USMNT Twitter explosion. That's not a goal I think even Pulisic would have scored, and yet it was Reyna's first instinct.
Earlier in the half, one of the commentators in the stream I'm watching said that Zenit have come here to play. And I've been thinking so far that's only true in maybe the most overly literal sense.
they have a case of what man united had for a long stretch 'you really think you can win the league with that back 4 regardless of your attack?'
