Sun Sentinel "Through 36 games over the past two months, MLS has drawn 16,057 per game, about 1,300 higher than the season average. That figured was helped and hindered by varying factors." I am not even gonna say we should switch to International calender but why has attendance increased last two months this year and last year (who knows maybe years b4 that)? Linear Correlation? Regression? Damn, statistics class really sux.
If MLS switched to the international calander (I assume you mean the European one), the last two months would really see the numbers skyrocket, especially after drawing in the hundreds for january and february matches in Chicago, Columbus, New England, etc. I'm guessing that there are similar spikes in comparable sports as the season winds down and playoff positions are at stake. Hockey and baseball definitely, NBA probably.
The spin from the league is that they do better with group sales to youth leagues once the fall leagues get going after summer vacation.
Chicago - 2003 Supporters Shield winners, 2003 US Open Cup winners... a loss to a team thats not making the playoffs in a game that didn't mean anything at all, the game meant so little i don't even think either team was playing for pride...
you must be blind. what i saw during that game was nothing but a columbus squad playing for pride. while i understand that chicago did not play their best lineup (as sarachan was resting his important players), that performance was nothing short of an embarrassment... and any game that the fire play against the crew is an important one. i just hope zach doesn't get injured.
like someone else said chicago was playing their backup backup keeper... just because the crew put up 6 goals on a horrible keeper doesn't mean they were playing for pride, you don't play like *#*#*#*#*# all season to wait for the last game and play against scrubs and all of a sudden you were playing for pride...
Two individuals effed up our playoff hopes: Andrulis and Williams. Subtract those two from the equation and I guarenty you that DC is on the outside looking in. But, it's all moot. I just hope that Stoitchkov road-rages his car into an oak.
I don't disagree with that statement at all about williams and andrulis, i do however want to add some other things that affected the team, injuries and Jim Smith, he has to take a lot of the blame... He and Andrulis need to be fired...
Yeah, I had thought about that. But I take into consideration that Smith did put this team together. And let's face it, he isn't really the one pulling the strings. Most directives come from HSG. Still, I don't think it matters whether he stays or goes. The most important moves that need to take place are firing Williams back over the pond to his 2nd division bench warming duites and making sure the door hits Andrulis square in the ass on the way out.
what else was there to play for? columbus could have benched mcbride, buddle, cunningham, martino, and hejduk as well. this isn't exactly rocket science.
