Scoreless, with most of the play in Blackburn's half as Southampton has the ball and pressure...

Griffit got the 2'nd goal, curling it in the far post. No chance for Brad.

What was Souness going on about at the end of the game? Skysports said it was the Southhampton assitant coach but did not really go into it.

    Souness fury over Rofe antics

Blackburn boss Graeme Souness was furious with Saints assistant coach Dennis Rofe for trying to influence referee Steve Bennett following an unseemly brawl which marred today's Premiership clash at St Mary's.

Andy Cole was sent off in the 65th minute for appearing to land a punch on Michael Svensson as Rovers crashed to their fourth consecutive defeat, although Bennett declined to punish any other players who were involved in the fracas.

Souness, who insists he did not see the incident, refused to pass judgement on the legitimacy of the dismissal but was incensed by Rofe's efforts to sway the referee and had to be separated from the Saints number three in the tunnel after the game.

'I didn't see the melee but obviously the referee did and acted on it. All I saw were a lot of players pushing and shoving - I will have to take a look at the video before I comment further,' he said.

'But what I was not happy with was the behaviour of Dennis Rofe - he was encouraging the referee to give Andy a red card. I don't take kindly to staff from other clubs trying to get my players sent off.

'My job is to look after my players, staff at other clubs must look after their own players and not concern themselves with trying to influence the referee. His behaviour is not correct.'
