VS Game: San Jose Earthquakes vs FC Dallas Date: Saturday, October 22nd Time: 9:30 PM [CST] Location: Buck Shaw Stadium, Santa Clara, California, United States Weather Forecast: Partly Cloudy; H 82/L 57 Competition: Major League Soccer TV: Fox Sports Southwest+ [Local]; Direct Kick [Out of Market] Radio: Univision 1270 AM Last Result for Opponent: Lost at Seattle 2-1 on Saturday. Some inspiration and belief would be nice heading into a the games with all the marbles. Prediction: 2-1 FCD (I don't know why. Who can really predict any of these games anymore?)
Dear Baby Jesus, Please reveal yourself to Coach Hyndman and provide him with the following inspirations: 1. Maybe, just maybe, dont play the same 13 players. Give the boys a rest. They will be much better with fresh legs. 2. Admit to the fans that it's possible he didn't know what in the ever loving hell he was doing this summer. It would probably earn him some good will with the fans. 3. Start wearing the butter leather. It couldn't hurt. Amen, P.s. ******** plate tectonics....
For once, I don't care about a game. I'll watch it and I'll react, but whatever happens happens. I think San Jose will win only because Wondolowski really wants that golden boot. Also, I'd love to see a bunch of new faces for this match. Let some kids have some fun before the play-offs.
I'll be there. Only get to see FCD in person once a year. Might be the only FCD supporter in the stadium, besides my gf. I could see them win by 3 goals, or lose by 3 goals. Who the hell knows what team is going to show up. At least I'll get to see Brek in person one last time before he's off to Europe. No way he sticks around with the crap he's surrounded with, playing in front of 2500 fans. Might actually be good for FCD to sell both Brek and John for as much as possible, and really rebuild the roster, and let some young guys get time. The club needs an overhaul, and the possible high amount they could get from selling those two could fill out a very good side, with young DP's(lesser cap hit), and a healthy David.
I am greedy. I want a CCL do-over. Beating SJ is our best shot at a chance of going next year. F' all. I want a win.
If being in the CCL means working local FCD employees too much in lieu of justifiable revenue/crowds, then I'd rather be out of the tournament and concentrate on sustaining a 'blue collar' team that builds by homegrown/grassroots loyalty. Sell the high price tag players and keep it within our means.
Let me look at this the other direction. If you want to avoid being in the CCL, you have a goal of: Not winning the Open Cup. Making sure you don't finish any better than 4th in the regular season. Not making the MLS Cup final. The CCL is an inevitable result of being a good team. I'd rather make it back to the CCL and figure out how to run the team through three simultaneous tournaments than be an 'above average but not great' team.
Color me surprised. FCD can catch RSL with a better result, and some of you are talking about starting reserves? I expected Portland green in here! You have a good side. It's a shame that one of our teams will be in the wild card round. CCL is a bitch. It wore us out last year.
Brek is at the Aggie Soccer game tonight, or so twitter tells me. (Beat the Hell outta Oklahoma) Could this be a sign that he isn't traveling for the San Jose game? Maybe a sign the starters are getting the weekend off. If so then Allah be praised.
This. Any ancillary effects are just that, added bonus. But it STEMS from being a good team to BEGIN with. Couple this with the market we're in and the probability of becoming an LA or NY, and you have a blue-collar metric from-and-for a regional success model (North Texas Soccer). This is why I was against Hitchcock from the beginning, and for Alper staying in 'domestic' power. Then again, SH and Andy Swift would've been the penultimate metric.
Kreis actually used reserves and he still thought ccl was only obtainable every two years. Maybe SH learns and adjusts. Maybe one day an MLS coach will find a way to field 22 solid players despite the cap and compete in all competitions. But for now, scouting still sucks.
I'm fooking pissed. I dropped a good chunk of money for great seats, for my one chance to see Brek up close this year. He doesn't even fooking travel, when we can still catch RSL? WTF? I'm gonna do everything in my power to find SH, and kick him in the balls, with boots, twice. FCD without Brek is like the Lakers without Kobe. I'd have saved a whole lot of money, and just gotten worse seats, if I new Brek wasn't traveling. Hell, I might not get to see him in person again, if he does get bought this winter. SH had all damn year to give the kids some time, yet never did it. He waits until I drop hundreds on tickets to give the kids some experience. Give me a fooking break. God damnit I'm pissed.
From this article some of the starters will be left at home. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/10/21/fcd-notebook-starters-stay-home-trip-san-jose
El capitan Hernandez is apparently in Tyler this morning watching his niece play a game.... I guess that he won't be joining the squad either.... Good. Glad to know some of the guys are getting some rest.

The last game he got a slight knock late and Theodore in the Toronto game thread said this "When Brek was subbed off, he audibly and disgustedly said: "I'm so f@#$ing burned out". He then draped a towel over his head kind of like when you put a canary to sleep in his cage." I feel your pain but Shea needs a break in the worst way. Next year the team will have a lot of data to use so they don't overuse players. Hope they use it. Maybe the national team will play near you and you can see Shea live then.
No, it's more like being an LAG fan, living in Boston, and the one time they show up that year, LA leaves Becks, Landon, Keane, Junhino, and Saunders back in LA.
With most starters resting/BBQing and gaining weight this weekend, it will be interesting if our reserve team bring home a win for the main team
