AWESOME stuff from Timmy!!! I was watching the game (via Korean Webcast) and it was a nailbiter of a game. Howard had some really great saves. Rangers were just left frustrated. Congrats to Man Utd. & Tim Howard!!:D

Timmy rated man of the match (8/10) by the BBC:

"Tim Howard: Pulled off superb saves to deny Shota Arveladze and Christian Nerlinger, dealt safely with any crosses thrown his way and, the one time he was beaten, Phil Neville was there to clear off the line. "

Thanks so much for the PBP babytiger2001. The Korean feed kept stalling, then I had to go to a meeting. Great job.

And great job by Timmy! I still get chills when I read about him starting in goal in the Champions League for Man U. Sometimes I can't believe it.

    Sir Alex praised Tim Howard

Sir Alex said the following on www.manutd.com: "They had a couple of chances from Lovenkrands, obviously, and I thought our goalkeeper's positioning was great both times."

Also, Tim Howard leads the voting for MOTM on www.manutd.com by a wide margin.

Keane is Irish, and a Celtic fan. NOT popular on Ibrox.

We Americans love voting on those things :p

Just kidding, it sounds like Tim did very well tonight and continues to improve.

    Great win overall for ManU

In fairness, how many Englishmen were on the field for Man U? I can think of three.

Not that I could have watched, but why wasn't this match on ESPN2 instead of the Real Madrid one?

There's also another related poll on the Manchester Evening News' site.

    http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/sport/football/

Timmy has a 52% take of the voting right now. Closest competition is Roy Keane at 10%, followed by the Nevilles and Rio Ferdinand.

    And I've already voted. :)

Also, thanks for all the kind words on my PbP efforts. Always a pleasure to do the PbP on these threads, especially when I know that I've got access to a match that viewers back home don't. I see it as my duty to keep you all informed.

That was the best I have seen Howard play. He looked confident and his positioning and decision making was right on. He looked very impressive. Made the tough save when the occasion demanded, but his improved decision making and positioning was the real news for me.

If he keeps that kind of form up, Brad and Kasey will have their work cut out for them if they hope to keep him on the US bench.

So is there is no website now where you can see highlites without paying right? I waited until midnight last night to see the recap on Contacto Deportivo, and they didn't even show it. They showed the Madrid game, Milan, even the Marseille game, but no Man U/Rangers which is arguably the best game of the week.

I watched the FSW Report last night, and they led off with the ManU-Rangers game and some highlights, but they did not show 1 Tim Howard save. You'd think the guy who got MOTM (in most viewers' opinions) would make the highlights, but it was not to be. FSW Report normally does show all goals, near goals, saves and other plays of interest (such as vicious tackles, etc.).

However, I am not yet ready to damn FSW Report.

In defense of FSW, if Howard was MOTM it was due to solid play, not so much spectacular, highlight reel play. His nice tip over the bar was likely not going in the goal, his good catch on the header from the corner was well done, but not spectacular. It was one of those "harder than it looked" kind of saves. The late save was very good and likely could have been shown, but still it wasn't save of the week material. I think they can be forgiven.
