81st min. -- Lovenkrands has Howard beaten with a low, hard shot towards the far post, but misses wide right. Unlucky for Rangers there...
What is it about these hot starts for goalies coming/leaving Metros? Meola started the trend (albeit year late)...now Howard....Jonny Walker too... Even Countess was doin' real well for a whilet there...
84th min. -- RVN shoots right at Klos. 85th min. -- First sub for Man Utd, Nicky Butt on for Phil Neville.
90th min. -- Nerlinger's shot from the top of the box, low and hard, and saved by Howard. Great poise and positioning by Timmy. Three minutes added on...
Full time, 1-0 to Manchester United. Nice three-point reward away from home. RANGERS (0) 0 MANCHESTER UNITED (1) 1 Phil Neville 5 And from the perspective of this board, solid performance from Tim Howard. Made some big saves, especially that one late on Nerlinger in stoppage time, organised his defence well, and really preserved the win.
Well I would give the save 9 of 10 Timmy is just going to show that he has been the best buy of the season in England.
I think what Tommy meant to say was that Howard's save preserved the three points for Man Utd with that save.
Another way to look at it (albeit a bit strained) is that it gave United 3 points instead of 1 (thus "saving" 2 points for ManU) and also denied 1 point to Rangers. Since Rangers and ManU are in the same CL group, the overall "net" is 3 points. That's a bit strainded, I know. I do believe that babytiger's statement above is actually what was meant.
Kasey- that big gust of wind you've been feeling is is Timmy passing you in the Nat team keeper pool....get used to the draft from now on...Bruce sings, "Glory Days"... Big Brad.....those footsteps must feel like King Kong coming in the coming weeks...
Andy Goram (Rangers goalkeeping legend) was praising Howard on Sky Sports News, having stated before the game that it was a big test for him. It was a surprisingly good performance by Rangers, but now they are struggling for the second place. United screwing up in Stuttgart really hurt Rangers.
