less than 1,000 tickets remain. http://chicago.fire.mlsnet.com/news...tent_id=91690&vkey=pr_chf&fext=.jsp&team=t100
Yeah no kidding. i wonder who he is going to bring in when we lose Dennis Hamlet to Real Salt Lake? Dave Sarachans son? Since we have 13 year olds picking our players for us.
Who was the genius that was saying that it was going to be a bad thing that this game was going to sell out so quickly?
If you didn't have to buy a prorated season, flex plan, or voucher ticket this would have sold out the day it was on sale. Teams tiring to sell more season tickets and get more fans to the other games (hopefully it doesn't piss people off having to buy prorated season tickets just to get to see Mr. Beckham).
I also am betting there are far more than 1,000 tickets still available and this is a scare tactic to generate sales in the five-game plans.
If this is true, then its safe to assume that there are 5 more games near sellout!!!!!!! any one know which games are in the 5 plans!!!
1000 left until they release the ones they are holding back for season ticket /mini packages which don't get sold
Can I just ask why is there such a demand just because beckham is playing. You do realize he's considered a big head, money grabber, slow paced, never beat a player, one footed, mardy player. In europe anyway. Don't get me wrong anything that gets fans interested is a great thing, but why does he get fans interested?
Thanks. i guss we will see if this is true or not on 5/27 against RSL. This game is in a sunday and Telefutura will air the game.
Well it's hard to judge the tickets sold by people in the stands sometimes.. Hard to tell the no-shows that will show for the Beckham match.. I guess if they announce the 5/27 match as a sellout even though there are lots of empty seats, you'll know if they sold out the Beckham match anyway..
No doubt he's overhyped and "mardy", but Beckham did finish second twice in the FIFA world player of the year voting...Not a lot of MLS players can say that. I'm looking forward to seeing him play in person myself.
Now, now, no need to use common sense in facts when debating things on Big Soccer. The man's got talent, no doubt about it and still has some good years still in him.
Season ticket holders were allowed to purchase additional tickets for the LA game already. If most of them used up their allotment that could be 3-5K seats. Also I believe the Colorado game in the 5 game pack was added as a replacement of the opener game for everyone who bought the 5 game pack after the opener.
It hasn't soldout because there making you buy a prorated season/flex plan/voucher ticket for the rest of the season to see Mr. Beckham. This game will not sellout if they make you buy a season ticket/flex plan/voucher ticket in order to get the LA game. If there was NO buy this to get the game, this game would have soldout the day they went on sale. There just tiring to sell more tickets to the other 4 games (three regular season games/playoff game.) Let's hope that there plan works that would mean there will be atleast 5 sellout crowds (5/27, 7/1, 7/12, 10/21 and playoff game).
Anyone want to take my bonus ticket (for Celtic or Cracovia) in a trade for this game? PM me if you'd prefer an extra one for the Bhoys instead of Becks.
Actually you can buy tickets for this game without purchasing either full season or 5 game packages. If you get 14 of your friends and pruchase a group for another game you can also purchase a group for this game. I was able to put together two seperate groups (35 for the 04/21 and 25 for 05/20) for other games and also pruchased (60) tickets for this game. I never knew it was a bad thing from a business point to leverage a popular product (the Beckham game) to leverage additional sales.
it does...last year i attended numerous games and was planning on buying season tickets (but i have a fear of commitment). seriously though, i like to buy tickets every now and again obviously based in the match up just as many others do. this nonsense about having to commit to other (poorly attended for a reason) games is a HUGE turn off. i made it to one game so far this season and had a pretty poor experience (same reasons as mentioned in other threads) but have a lot less enthusiasm now that i know the management is trying to control who I can and cant see play. whether im an idiot or not, this decision will result in me attending fewer games this year. ah, becks probably wont play anyway (or so i like to tell myself).
The RSL game isn't very close I would bet. They also sold group tickets and suites for the Los Angeles game don't forget. They definitely got a boost for a handful of other games based on Beckham, but it's not going to be enough to sell out other matches with just the 5-pack alone. That being said, I would guess you'll find very good crowds on 6/9 Chivas, 7/1 possibly first Blanco game, 8/4 Polish Night, September 15 Red Bulls/Youth Soccer ball giveaway, September 23 Hispanic Heritage Night/DCU and 10/6 New England. The Fire has a realistic shot at selling out the last 5 of the last 6 games if they don't drop the ball.
I understand your points, but from looking at the selected games, they chose them for a purpose: 4/7 - season opener, eventually replaced with 7/1 (blanco's first game) 5/27 - RSL, Freddy Adu for the casual fan who doesn't know any better 7/12 - Houston - defending MLS champ, ESPN2 game of the week Playoff game - attendance has always been terrible and they are trying to get some advance sales for a change Plus you were allowed to replace one of the games...not a bad deal if you ask me.
I completely disagree with this statement. The game will be sold out anyways, that's a guarantee. They are just trying to leverage other sales from the people that are willing to pay for extra games. It's smart business and ALL professional sports teams do this.
