I didnt see a thread for this yet.. Sanneh starts in midfield. Halftime 1-0 Nurnberg... Jarolim on 44' minutes
Uggh Amanatidis puts 'Gart ahead on 84 minutes...maybe Tony should move back to D...or maybe not...let's see if olaf comes here and blames both goals on him
3.5 rating seems right. The only scene worth to be mentioned was when he lost an air duel against Kuranyi after a corner kick; Kampa had to show a great save to prevent from the equaliser at that time. For Nürnberg and Sanneh it is better to keep him on the right wing and not move him back to the defence. The equaliser was very unlucky for Stuttgart: Nürnberg was in the offence movement, but a cross hit the referee - Stuttgart collected the ball, started the counter attack and scored.
Yes, he lost the air duel on the corner, no doubt but that was not his only low point. I truly hate to say this but Stuttgart's game winning goal was partially due to Sanneh's poor positioning to screen the goal scorer from the cross. Stuttgart holds the ball quickly on the right, Sanneh has two attackers to handle but gets pushed behind both. He had a small chance to get between the crosser and the two attackers but was a step out of synch. Who knows how many elbows he had been taking but it seems he was just too easily pushed out of position, perhaps since there were two of them. He did well to catch them on the counter but... If he would start playing more physically like he did in the WC, he would be playing at the next level of his ability. I agree with Olaf though, he is much more valuable as an offensive player and he should stay out on thr right. Also, Augenthaler should make sure Sanneh is in the mixer on corners and near FKs. He can outjump 70% of the BL but he is always held as the last man back - let Petkovic do that. If he can be in on every CK/FK, he could score 7 goals per season.
