DMB flourishing at Rangers. His name has a bit of cache these days. Did well in the Champions League for PSV, doing well in this Champs League for Rangers. Inconceivable!

His strikerate at City was great, all things considered. Unfortunately, too many English pundits/fans/management are convinced he's "lightweight"

All true, but you would think that his agent could have at least gotten him a tryout. It's time for the US players to leverage US ownership at ManU and Liverpool.

This thread is useless without video.

It's been ten minutes, and yet still no youtube of Beaz. What gives?

That is a TERRIBLE idea. Get him a tryout just because he's American? You would subject Americans in the Prem to well-deserved ridicule. Hey, how about being a productive player??!?!?! He would get no playing time at Pool over someone like Riise. Sorry. Nice player though. He could do well at some place like Wigan (who look likely to stay up.) Maybe a mid-level team in Spain. Not the most technical player but he seems better these days.

    great stuff in the Guardian...

    http://football.guardian.co.uk/news/matchreport/0,,2181864,00.html

73 min: Beasley is superb. He heads a loose ball out of his own box, clearing any danger while deliberately setting himself up for a run down the left. Three men swarm round him and he's eventually forced to turn back and lay off, but for a moment it looked like he was going to zip clear. Lyon, meanwhile, are worse than useless.

Wow. The Guardian describes Beasley's display as "superb."

Scottish announcers (radio) says DMB has "come of age today" and have been glowing in their praise for his "holding" the ball and almost scored again. Woot!

    Guardian:

76 min: Beasley has another run down the left; Reveillere hacks him down spitefully and witlessly, and is booked.

Dont be so naive. Beas had 4 goals in maybe 8 full matches at mancity, but got dumped. Some times you have to pull strings to get noticed and to manufacture your break. There is a bias against US players and using contacts to get around that is all fine in the world of results. Like I said, Liverpool lacks speed on the outside. Bease has the potential to score 4 or 5 goals and before Torres had his hat trick, last I saw Liverpool needed some life in that area.

82 min . Lyon hit the the woodwork for the second time this half. Rangers are good and lucky, a lethal combination.:D

If hitting the woodwork counted as goals this game would be tied right now.

    please

the owners should let the football professionals pick the players -- otherwise you wind up with club turmoil (e.g., Chelski)

I recall Charles Wang seriously wanted Mike Milbury to consider bringing in a Sumo wrestler to play (i.e., squat in front of) goal (NHL: NY Islanders)

As much as we as fans want to see him play every game, Ranger's squad rotation has probably been a good way for Beasley to ease his way into the team. It's like his minutes for Rangers feel the exact opposite as his minutes for Man City, but it's just that the spin is different. Throw in the Champion's League and it has the feeling of a good situation.

Exactly. If DMB had a previous relationship with Benitez then maybe, otherwise the owners should do what they do best which is manage the finances and let the managers manage the team and bring in the players they choose to.
