Didn't see this up, but Vanney went the whole way in a 3-1 win. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/match?id=104218&cc=5901
Apparently he was an important part in the victory. It was his first time back in the starting lineup for a few games. http://www.turfmonster.com/articles/?ID=28&ArticleID=1069 This article basically explains that Bastia's recent defending has been pretty bad and points to Vanney as being the missing link on defense this weekend for Bastia which held their opponents to only one goal. So it sounds like Vanney is having success and tangibly contributing to Bastia's game. I look for him to continue to be in the starting eleven and wish him the best.
Although I agree that the Bastia defense seems better with Vanney, the ratings at l'Equipe never seem to reflect that. N. PENNETEAU 5 N. SAVELJIC 6 C. URAS 5.5 P. CHIMBONDA 6 G. VANNEY 5.5 L.
