Just back from the game.... Great crowd. Very loud on both sides of the stadium, a strongly pro-USA crowd. Lots of applause from the players after the game, which was nice to see. Was disappointed not to see Convey get in the game here at RFK. Especially since I thought Eddie Lewis was the least effective player out there tonight. I'm not usually a fan of Hejduk, but I thought he was great tonight. Berhalter had some rough moments, and McBride needs to shoot more quickly, but all-in-all what a great evening.
I know it is way too early to make judgements, but I thought it was kind of symbolic when EJ beat McBride to the ball for the goal, and Brian was left laying on the ground while Eddie was celebrating the goal. The younger and fast passing the older and slower.
wow all of a sudden everyone seems to think mcbride is the worst player alive *cough*fairweather*cough*
Actually, there was one player that I thought had a very poor night, Greg Berhalter. I think that he completed maybe two passes to his team-mates and I don't think he ever headed the ball once to our players. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I was p!ssed-off that he headed ball after ball, out of bounds, with wide-open team-mates to head the ball to. Even Frankie looked kinda good out there - and he didn't do a step-over, even once!
But that was in Azerbaijan. I'd guess they're roughly the same as Panama in strength. They're one of those former Soviet republics. Likes to fight with Armenia a lot.
I saw it the same way. You have to respect his nose for goal. He's a known quantity and therefore tends to get tighter marking. Still, he was getting free and mking the right runs. And like you said, late in the game and after taking some tough knocks.
The game against Jamaica next month is really meaningless. Let's start all young and inexperienced. Guys like Eddie Gaven, EJ, Dempsey, Gooch...Now we can start think about the magical hex round.
Didn't say that. I simply thought he had a bad game. He squandered a bunch of chances and half chances.
Actually, he did pull one step-over. Great game from The Yanks! EJ: what can you say? 4 goals in 2 games. Jesus Christ!
Rob Stone thinks every little flashy backheel, one-touch pass, etc is the coolest thing since sliced bread, so when he kind of makes fun of the HeyDude crossover you know its bad.
The game in against the Reggae Boys is not meaningless. We beat them, combined with a Panama or El Salvador win eliminates the second best team in the group from moving on. I think it is vital to the next stage to avoid a trip to the office.
One stepover late in the game.... Too bad the resulting cross was worthless. Still, Hejduk had another good game.
can we at least call OURSELVES americans? i hate that yanks thing from foreigners let alone people living here.
I was telling my Dad before EJ got in that this is the new and up and coming young buck from Miami that we have. I said that he was lighting fast and carries a beautiful obedient first touch....then he goes on tho bag a hat trick and make our whole house rock with noise. Truely a beautiful night for the IronEagles and all us supporters!!! Did anyone notice that Landon got his second goal on a full volley as the Canalero defender slid in a popped the ball up as Lando went to strike it. Lando just kept focus and struck a wet and rising ball for goal #2 of the night! A World Class finish no doubt! The match is going to be replayed on Telemundo tonight at 10:30. Can't wait to hear Andres "I suck the Mexican donkey d!ck" Cantor have to force out 6 GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!! for our lads. Suck it Cantor!!! Dale Dale...Dale Roj!!! Dale Dale...Dale 'zul!!! Daleeeeeeee U S AAAAAAA !!!
I don't know enough about the disease, but I don't think it was much of a factor in his ManU errors. They just seemed more like rookie/lack of confidence mistakes. Something he can work through.
Yes but Hedjuk assumes a very important role with that number...as pie is quite an important element of the system of things.
