That's without the certainty that the home team would be in the final. They could probably double that rate now that the Revs are in for sure, right? Which would be around 35 K heading into Sunday's game, not counting walkups.

I liked the Miami Herald article. WE should put a team the Orange Bowl!!!!!! Apparently she doesn't follow the league very closely.

MLS going to the Orange Bowl? If short-term memory serves me correct, Miami Fusion FC did play there twice last year. In July and/or August. Late in to the season in which they were playing some of the best football in Major League Soccer. A season where they were top of their conference, and the whole table. Orange Bowl/Miami fans had their chance to prove that they wanted pro soccer in their town. What was the attendance for those games? Somewhere around pathetic-thousand and three? Two games to show this league that a Miami team could succeed, and you people decided to hit the midday buffet and tuck in early for that pre-dawn shuffleboard event at the rec center and a walk around the mall. You had a great chance to show our league you would support the beautiful game. You didn't even support a beautiful club. MLS will not be going back to Florida for years, if ever.
And besides, the Orange Bowl? Do we really want another club in a huge NFL football stadium? Lockhart (which also didn't get the support for whatever reason) was perfect for soccer. Orange Bowl is not. Build a SSS, sell 15,000-20,000 season ticket promisary notes (or whatever it's called), and then we might consider you. Until then, to quote DeNiro in Copland "You had your chance and you blew it!"

their biggest problem was the owner... they had a really sweet pitch to play on normally... the widest in mls

The question is not if Miami is a good place for soccer, which I am positive that it is, but whether they can get an owner who gives a crap about them and a SSS in a location where fans have easy access. Sports fans in Miami are basically sick of being ignored by their owners and the league, ie. Marlins, Panthers, Fusion.
Miami loves the Dolphins because they know that the franchise has a history and integrity that Heizenga wouldnt dare screw with because Miami fans can also be very fickle. The Fusion had hardly any advertising the few years i watched them play but it doesnt mean the fans werent excited or that there was a lack of interest. I would listen to sports radio 560 in south florida and these guys(especially during that last year) were really pumping up the fusion and getting callers who were avid fusion fans. Every day the Miami Herald usually runs half a page specifically for soccer either recapping games around the world, MLS, or local matches. Under the right circumstances(Stadium in downtown Miami and good ownership), Miami would be a perfect soccer town. But this probably wont happen in the near future, especially considering the problems the Florida Marlins are having trying to get a stadium. That being said I dont expect a team in Miami because its too risky for the league with all of these issues.
Besides, Ian Bishop aint coming back.
