Even if it was RSL, it was still a far cry from the kind of soccer we saw in the first 1/3rd of the season. Its sort of ironic that a team with no depth at all is beginning to face the problem of who to play and how to keep non-playing good players happy. Dedi is the real deal. He makes great runs, has good moves with the ball at his feet, and finishes when the situation demands it. His pass to Cunningham couldn't have been better. I would'nt want to be FC right now trying to decide where to play everyone. Early in the season, I was a critic of Denton's but he has played better and better and has begun to really deserve the playing time he has been getting. While Kirovski still doesn't set the ground on fire, he has begun to play better and seemed a lot more comfortable tonight. The addition of Cooke and Dedi have improved the team greatly. Add to that the growing confidence I see in Nkong's play, and we are beginning to look like a team with potential. It will be a crime if we aren't able to see the FC Dallas match on television. It is shaping up to be a very critical match with significant implications for the playoffs. Awesome!!! Who woulda thot!!!! :)

Lots of stuff to respond to...

I have not seen the Rocky Mountain Cup in person, but I don't see the comparison to the Brimstone Cup.

Road trip to SLC. The trip itself is on your own, but I'll bumpt the thread about the ticket deal for Rapids fans going to the game.

Altitude TV. The final game of the season was moved after the U. of Utah released their football schedule. It's now opposite an Avalanche game. The Dallas game is also scheduled opposite an Avalanche game. I can't really blame Altitude for choosing hockey over soccer, since Kronke owns both teams. No excuse for not showing it on tape delay though.

Bad form on whomever dumped a beer on the RSL fan. That's something you'd expect out of certain Chivas fans.

The Gargan has been released, now it needs to be killed. The last two games has shown me that Gargan can't play right back. He's my fourth choice for that position (Freeman, Lewis, Pablo, then Gargan).

Kirovski needs to contribute now, or get off the field.

It's too bad we can't get Kotschau, Denton, and Dedi on the field at once. I say sit Denton, but it's not an easy choice.

For the Rocky Mountain Cup the only way FSL wins it is to win the last game by 2 goals. If the Rapids can score 2 or more goals they have to win by 3.

Oh, and from the pregame thread...

It's not often I get this stuff right, so I'm taking my glory when I can ;)

    No cards to the Rapids...

Do they get points for good conduct?

Another strange fact...Dedi's goal was the first one all year that we had scored between the 31st and 45th minute.

About the crowd...makes you wonder just how much AEG fudged the attendance numbers prior to KSE taking the team...if I were with KSE, I'd be pretty pissed about what I just bought (unless they were shown the real numbers, which I suppose is possible). That crowd would have easily been reported as a 20,000 crowd under AEG.

About the game...I thought that the backline we started was one of the weaker backline combos. I have no idea what Gargan did to earn a starting role with this team, and I have no idea what Kotschau has done to earn himself time on the bench again (unless we're just resting him? Somehow I doubt this).

Cunningham not starting makes me think that he will not be a Rapids player next year.

I do not think that the Rapids looked overly inspired the first half, and while we did control play in the middle at times (and overall looked much improved in the second half), I have to remind myself that we WERE playing the second worst team in the league. In other words, while I enjoyed the victory, I find it hard to believe that this team is going to go anywhere in the playoffs.

For what its worth, Kirovski looked better last night than I Recall him looking in the first few games...much more involved in the play at times. Good for him. On the other hand, I still do not think that he's earned a starting position.

So with that in mind, Kirovski and Gargan should be on the bench fighting for playing time. Period.

The west is looking interesting...we are in the drivers seat with LA, and suddenly, with a good win over Dallas, things will get interesting for us (if we can pull that off, which I also question at this point).

Still, this team needs to worry less about moving up on Dallas and LA, and focus more on just getting things to come together a little better.

Finally, it looks like Chivas and Real may end up in a real dog fight for that number 1 overall draft pick, with Chivas only a couple of points behind Real in the standings.

PS - its 7pm and game time - do you know where your children are? Do you care? If your kids are really that NOT interested in the game, and your interest is only passing, perhaps it would be cheaper to BUY 2 soccer balls than to buy 4 tickets and get 2 free soccer balls. I imagine that if I had 6 year oldish kids and brought them to the game, and they just dissapeared to swing on the railing, etc. I'd probably be a little nervous. AT the Pepsi center, you can't stand in the aisles for more than a minute before the ushers tell you to go sit down. AT Invesco, apparently, this is not a concern. At all. I do not look forward to wednesday night's game.

The odd thing about last night is I never really felt we would lose. Even after the first goal I didn't feel like we were in trouble. There have been points during the season where I'd have felt like it was all over after the other team scored.

Funny, I had the opposite feeling. That was the most nervous I've been about a game for a while. I felt much better after Cunningham got the go ahead. Maybe being wrapped up with the Rocky Mountain Cup caused it...

I think CSC will only harass the local adult supporters. We're "safe" for them. The FO has our names and addresses on file.

They can't harass the Chivas fans for fear of being called "racist" (or something equally stupid).

They can't harass the kids because mom and dad, who can't be bothered to be even semi-responsible parents, do have a good lawyer on retainer, just in case anyone says or does anything "derogatory" to junior or juniorette.

It was either them, or somebody who looked just like them.
