lets all forget the World Cup. Lets forget the national team. They are semi-important and defiently not the first thing written on my soccer priority list. I honesly don't give a rats SS if they lose to japan or china now. But what i do care is that Daejeon lost four goals to nil to Ulsan on their home turf, in front of an over-capacity crowd, around 43,000 +, exactly a year later when korea beat the whining sissies 2-1 in overtime exactly a year before. Hope this doesnt stop the citizens of daejeon coming to the games. Go fighting purple.
I agree. if you are a true fan you should be sitting back watching football every week. Not talking about something that happened a year ago and worrying about something that is happening in 3 years. If you are real fans you will find a decent football team (Anyang) and support them. Not a team that plays a few games now and then (and not very well either). rfe
if you are reading this dont bother to listen to RFE. He's clueless. Anyang doesnt even come close to a half decent squad. Find a new coach, Anyang. And maybe...you guys can try to reconstruct your worn down stadium with all that tax money...oh wait actually scratch that. Perhaps we could leave the stadium thing aside until there are actually people that goes to Anyang home games. lol. pz.
you might wanna check the averages cos more people come to our concrete hell hole than go to watch you guys plod your way to another draw (4 wins in 14 games wow!) at your fancy WC stadium. Suwon 83,351(10419) from 8 games Anyang 76,667(12778) from 6 games oh dear! You guys might almost make the top half if you can work out where the goal is week in week out. Suwon: 12 goals in 14 games hahahaha Anyang: 24 goals in 14 games ouch! Do you guys know that you are the most hated club in Korea because of your supporters? I ain't joking. You guys have made no friends this year anywhere. rfe It's all good essvee and yeah I know you beat us 3-1 last time. I was there. I am more concerned with pushing for the title though, than clinging to games that happened several weeks ago.
My parents are first generation Korean Americans, but they hail from Song Ju, or at least my dad does. That is near Daegu. While my mom is from Young-Duk, which is known for it's sea crabs. Don't laugh. Anyhow, does that mean if I resided in Korea, I would have to support Daegu, because of my patriarchial lineage? Futhermore, in respects to my matrilineal line, I can't see Young-Duk have a football team called the crabs!?
Nice come back. There is not a coach on this planet that doesn't say stupid sh#t every other day. *Jo* Gwang-Rae. Everyone still hates Suwon. rfe
Suwon behaved very well when they came down here to Busan. I guess the fact that only middleschool girls have the guts to travel the 6 or so hours down to Busan might have something to do with it. It seems Suwon supporters only display aggro against the other northern clubs. This is a photo I took after running down into their end with my Busan kit on. Wasn't thinking, but hey.... more than a litre of dongdongju on an empty stomach has that kind of effect. Some girls were clicking and clucking when they saw this mad foreigner in a rival club kit come into their section, as if I was about to engage in aggro... but when they realized I was just snapping photos, it was all peace signs and "hello, nice to meet you!"
it's related to a few banners that would cause riots in a church as they were rather insulting to the opposition and even embarrased the Suwonites. I think the last victims were Chonbuk. I think it is too far for the Suwon supporters to travel to Busan since they all live in Seoul. An hour + some north of Suwon.
suwon has made no friends cuz we're the best and you know it. we actually have more supporters coming to suwon games then the national team games and you are jealous. we are also hated because you guys envy not only our number but our class. hey, we're just trying to have some good fun. but instead you guys break down chairs - the chairs paid by the citizens of suwon. thats breaking the law. those chairs are owned property. cmon man. at least we dont go that low. jeesus christ. another reason why suwon is hated: we are simply the best. oh - and your argument with the numbers..well i dont see an argument cuz we still have more people coming to our fancy-smancy stadium. anyang can go to hell. i hate em!...to be honest..i thought i could never really hate a team like this..but i really hate anyang and seongnam. get out of my face before we blow you away by 3 goals like last year. take care.
Isn't Grand Bleus the first supporters club of K-league? Anyway, back to Cho Kwang-rae, he was one of the harshest person to criticize Hiddink in 2001. He was very assertive in saying Hiddink should step down before the huge embarrassment in '02wc. And how dare did he praise Hiddink right after the cup having said all that $hit?
see we need more of this s%&t. why don't you guys get on some Korean k-league sites and start stirring people up a bit. I would but I can't understand how to register anywhere and then I would have to write in Korean which would take me half and hour to swear at them. It has taken a kiwi guy to come to Anyang to really get you to hate the place. Funny since no-one in Anyang apart from a couple of hundred die-hards really seem to pissblood for the team. I have that affect Suwon is number 7 actually. I think you were number 1 in 1999. peace rfe
wasn't everyone in Korea criticizing Hiddink after all those poor performances. Hiddink made a fool out of a whole lot of people. The media in particular were crucifying him before the WC. selective memories? Don't hate Anyang cos we are better than you. Hate us because we are half your size and better than you. rfe
Reminicing Actually true fans do talk about huge achievements of the past as well. But don't forget to turn up for games either. Coming in 4th in the World Cup is no small achievement... it is huge, and I hope we'll be talking about it and watching highlights for generations to come
You will don't worry. Just the same as '66' gets mentioned again and again everytime the WC rolls around in England. It's called a desparate cry for attention. Koreas achievement in the WC was phenomenal. It was even more than that. I rode it every step of the way and it is something that I will never forget. I screamed for Korea more than I scream for my own country most of the time. I am hoping that Korea is able to surpass that achievement at some stage in the next 30 years. Partly because I would like to see Korea show some real forward thinking and forget what just happened. I think they are hungry enough, despite those involved trying to talk down the teams chances already. Too often teams can fall over after they gain unexpected success. They get psyched out. Dwelling too much on past glory is a sure fire way to achieve nothing in the future. Brazil win the WC all the time, but their fans demand that they win it again and again. They are hungry and they are unstoppable when they get in the mood. Some countries in the world have this killer instinct for success. Some don't. Korea has the potential, now they need the application. rfe
I don't know which fans you were friends with but people around me believed in Hiddink even when our boys were on a winless streak. Even our players said they were improving like never before and were confident to reach 2nd round.
the past Nah it's good to talk about past achievements... just not at the cost of thinking of the matter in hand of course. If you don't really care to reminice about huge achievements, really why go for it at all? Right after those few hours that it is the present, it will be the past. You should remember the past (both good and bad) and look to the good moments for inspiration and perhaps could use a past event as a rally point. Just don't forget the hard work behind it and don't forget what else to do next. Now I don't think our team is yet the quality to consider ourselves a regular top semi-finalist quality team. We're very much a 2nd round team who did exceptionally well. Let's not forget that. We have to work on improving that. And yes, in the next 30 years, I hope our team can go on to play in the final.
I've watched Stephan Matteau score the game winning goal in double overtime in game 7 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals. I've watched Mark Messier hoist the Rangers first Stanley Cup in 54 years over his head. I've seen Robin Ventura hit a grand slam single in the bottom of the 15th inning to beat the Braves in game 5 of the 1999 NLCS. I was there when Benny Agbayani hit his game winning homerun in the bottom of the 13th to beat the Giants in game 3 of the 2000 NLDS. I saw Allan Houston hit the game winning basket to eliminate Miami in game 5 of the 1999 Eastern Conference quarterfinals. I saw Larry Johnson's 4 point play to beat the Pacers in game 4 of the 1999 Easter Conference Finals. I've been through a World Series, 2 NBA Finals with the Knicks, and the Stanley Cup. Yet with all of these memorable sports moments, I put Korea's Ahn Jung-Hwan's Golden Goal to beat Italy as the top sports moment of my life. So basically, I don't need someone to tell me what a "true" fan really is when it's all just a matter of opinion anyway. At least, that's what I thought it was. Gracias.
way to miss the point. I'm talking about true fans of soccer, not fans of the Korean NATIONAL soccer team. Who are (as I said) fans of the national team specifically. Not fans of soccer as a sport. Those who support the national team and ONLY the national team (which is who I was talking about) are "true fans" of the national team, but they are not "true fans" of soccer. That goes without saying. It is a truism. If they were fans of soccer then they would actually be interested in soccer as a sport, and as a whole. Understand? Context is everything. Interesting how a few people here have taken to picking bits of some posts of mine and totally ignoring anything positive I say. You have to learn to take the good with the bad... ...or not. rfe
