it would be like the wonderful days of the cosmos. it would be great with a roaring crowd of 60,000 fans going let's go metros but it would hurt the team financially & only attract a casual fan. it wouldn't get these new fans to return.the metros really need a stadium soon to call their own.
Remember the match against the Sounders in July of 1980? The crowd (63K+) was so pumped you couldn't hear the player intros and it didn't get much better until aftert the final whistle.
What about 10 cent beer night or death to disco night? That did wonders for the WhiteSox attendance and almost leveled Comisky Park back in the late '70s.
Wonderful days. Sure, if you don't count the league folding. Oh well, that's just minor details. Hooray for Cosmos!
we are not the WUSA, we don't need some stupid gimmicks to inflate our attendance #!!!!! We just have to put some quality football on the pitch and the people will come
Wouldn't work- only in Columbus does nearly free pork type products and dairy sculptures bring in the crowds.
Can't we all agree that if something costs $1.00 that is viewed, invariably, as being worthless crap? Our league is not crap! But if they did something creative like this (not to just get butts in the seats) to attract new fans and drive up the fan base, within reason, I'd go for it. Military family night? Youth soccer night? Fire/policeman/EMT night?
