Times It's back to Brazil for Carlos - N.Y. Daily News Rumor, via Chris Bergin, has MLS announcing 11 P-40's today (was originally for yesterday). Besides Alecko Eskandarian, two others are known to have signed with MLS: Ricardo Clark (above in "State Colleges") and Jacob LeBlanc (yesterday's news and a team mate of Alecko's). Soccer America recently listed 9 likely P-40's in one of their past daily emails.
A bit of extra news from the Rapids: Nice to see a full away television package secured months ahead of time. Also, Chung seems to have a new lease on life. Don't I recall that he was talking about retiring after another year when he was with the Metros? I could be wrong.
Re: Re: Re: 1/9/03: P-40's True enough, but it's better to leave a year early than a year late. I could be way off, but I think last year really was Chung's last hurrah.
Re: Re: Re: 1/9/03: P-40's getting away from the Metros and Zambrano may have helped. and i'm not sure last year was his last hurrah. with Valderrama gone and Grimandi in, he won't have to muckety muck as much, and he'll be free to press forward and do as he pleases. something he's pretty good at.
Re: Re: Re: Re: 1/9/03: P-40's If Spencer is healthy and the Grimandi/Mastro combo works, I think he'll do OK. That team could be very fun to watch.
Nice to see Ricardo Clark go P-40. He's supposed to be the real deal and putting off a professional environment would have done him no good. Aren't DC United interested in him?
The names I've seen rumored, many via Robert Ziegler on the US Junior Teams board... UVa: Eskandarian, LeBlanc UNC: Stokes, Pause Clemson: Lewis (probable) Wake Forest: Carroll Stanford: Marshall (possible) Furman: Clark U-18: Alvarez U-17: Gonzalez, Gaven Coincidentally, that's 11.
Re: Re: Re: 1/9/03: P-40's Good catch ... forgot about him. Quick run-down on US U-17's in MLS: * indicates a former player % indicates a rumored 2003 early entry 1995: Rimando, Gomez, Howard, Garcia, Bussey 1997: Califf, L. Gonzalez, Downing, Totten(?), Twellman, Kartes* 1999: Countess, Beasley, Akwari, Convey, Beckerman, Trembly, Donovan 2001: Quaranta, E. Johnson, Mapp, Capano, Stone, Magee%, Marshall% 2003: Gonzalez%, Gaven%
tis helpful to read gpk there's a note in there on steve jolley i'm really not sure what you are attempting to do by acting like this, you know as well as i do that any mentioning is good mentioning plus this is coming from the quad-cities area of iowa-illinois... meaning it's a decent drive from chicago, or even st. louis... so doing something with an mls player is nice to see up there site hits are site hits, responses from articles to authors and editors are noted but if you fail to even take note of them, you're not getting everything out of it that you can
No Jim, I saw that. I also saw the one sentence from the basher in KC and the mere half a sentence mention of the Rochester soccer stadium. There were also articles primarily about LeBron James the other day with a quick mention of Freddie Adu. Perhaps the referee article should be posted in that forum. news.google.com is a great service, but I'm just not sure if you are stretching the original intent of the news thread beyond the scope of where it needs to be or has been intended to be in the past.
i'm rather doubtful just because it's negative, doesn't mean it's not news just because there is only a glance, doesn't mean there isn't reason to make note the one line from the wroc-tv blurb was a good one to show... state funding is being questioned in new york, so questions could easily arise about the rhinos stadium ($15 million from ny)... it stated money from that was safe and why is it wrong it to show an article that compares lebron to adu in any way? why should normal readers of this thread not catch a good article on refereeing? this thread has been long standing not just as a place for mls articles, but for others... it would be a great disservice to the BS community to throw every article only in one forum (read ref forum, the usa forum, the fire forum, the metros forum, the usl forum, etc.) but i also realize that your problem isn't exactly with what i'm throwing in here...
So what exactly is my problem? Again, I have no idea what you are talking about. I don't know, but I would imagine I'm not the only one who has clicked on these articles lately and wondered why they were even posted. If you want to talk about something else off line, that's fine.
Re: Progress in Iran In a related development, SJ re-signs Khodadad Azizi. "It would have worked last time, if only more Iranian women attended games" was heard in SJ's headquarters...
Agree. Way too much clutter on these threads now. I say only list articles with actual soccer content not some oblique reference to the sport.
