MLS hasn't returned Moore's agent's phone calls? What's going on there? I presume the English offer he's referring to is Wolverhampton.

I realize MLS is probably playing coy in contract negotiations, and maybe JMM is too by saying he's headed back to England in five days, but MLS drives me crazy when they won't even "return a phone call" (presuming it's true). It smacks too much of spite to me...or just plain incompetence or lack of character (if a league can have a "character").

But all this is said without knowing too much about it of course...

    in Spanish.

    Ariel Graziani loaned to Emelec.

I'm guessing this will turn into a long term deal and MLS is saying bye-bye to Graz.

SJ can't keep him under their cap and it doesn't look like anyone else in MLS wants him bad enough to make a deal with SJ. At least the Quakes should get an allocation should that occur.

No wonder Yallop's been in England so much.

I know Graziani was a bit of a head case (okay, not "a bit"), but I still loved the guy and thought he was great for MLS. I hope the league gets a decent wad of cash out of this, though I doubt it.

It's called money, and JMM is asking for too much at a guaranteed level. If JMM can do better financially by signing with Wolverhampton, he should sign there. I'm not going to be pissed off at the league if they don't sign him. JMM is not a superstar and was not even a dominant player in MLS, and he's reaching the age where injuries are going to start taking a toll on him.

Invest in the superstars of tomorrow MLS.

    Maybe, maybe not.

This isn't the first time an MLS player has been loaned to Emelec, although it may be the first in a few years.

IIRC, all previous loanees have returned, if that makes you feel any better.

    Including JMM...I think.

I agree, if he's not willing to take a pay cut to play in MLS, then he should go back to Europe to collect the cash he requests. Either way in 3 years or so, he will be begging to play for less money in MLS.

Nope. Mathis' contract runs out after the upcoming MLS season. He is a free man after MLS Cup in October

    Graziani and Emelec

The link didn't work for me. Does the article state how long the loan is for? Joe Max and Lalas went to Emelec for a couple of months a couple of years ago. Likely just an opportunity for him to get some matches and playing time in. I doubt they would let Graziani slip away unless there is a reasonable transfer fee.

Its not the first time Graziani has been loaned to Emelec during the off-season either.

If his contract still has another year on it, he'll be back.

I don't doubt that Graziani is going to Emelec on loan, whether it's short-term or becomes permanent. It makes sense.

But, for what it's worth, the article is based only upon "an anonymous source close to the team (Emelec)."

but what's wrong with MLS thinking Graziani was worth more than $2m in that market? He does have his following and he's not a bad player. Just because no one would pay $2m now doesn't mean it was a bad move then.

i don't think you understood what i was getting at. mls was offered 2mil for graziani... that will never happen again. they were also offered 1mil for clint... he is leaving on a free transfer.

missed opportunities and inept managing from the league.

hell. joe-max nearly left on a free not unsimilar to clint, except the league did get something from everton ($24,000).
