That's because we have Lahm and Lucio back in defense, our 2 best defenders that are both irreplacable. Look at the impact in the 1st half in the 1st leg from Messi and the 2nd leg in the first 45 minutes.

In actuality, the only threat is of missing the 2nd semi leg if any of them get a yellow in the first leg at the Camp Nou.

Apparently, there is a new obscure rule that allows exceptions to the suspension in the case of the final.

Edit: I don't blame Pep for these yellows. Ultimately it's the players' responsibility

Only thing that changes is that now Liverpool need a goal to tie rather than win on agreggate.

Edit: it looks over now. Alex FK thunderstrike makes is 2-2 on the night, 5-3 on aggregate. L'pool need 2 more goals now.

The difference in pitch size makes a big difference as well. Camp Nou is very wide, which makes almost impossible to close down space on a winger whose hugging the touch line.

Messi is also playing on half cylinders in this match, there's no reason to go all out. He's barely trying to take on defenders. And funny enough it's been Demichelis who's been your best defender and has made some crucial tackles on both Messi and Eto'o.

And as I write this beautiful goal by Keita. Great team build up.
