You know, I can't help but feel that Bob Bradley is putting a lot more effort into getting young, high caliber players in New Jersey than he was in Chicago the last couple of years.

Is this reality, or just indicative that perhaps Jersey plays by different roster rules than Chicago, making the task that much easier?

NY/NJ is the capital of the world so no matter what, we deserve the very best and get to play by our own rules.

See how well that has worked in the past 7 seasons?

    =)

i think it's a sign that the league has learned it's lesson

the fire pretty much started out with older SI's, like others... but we still had nowak and hristo... they finally left, but unlike the metros, we don't have the room to make any moves... because our u.s. youth have done wonders... in comparison with squat from the metros

the league is moving towards younger foreigners... ruiz, garcia, o'brien, reyes, vaca, etc.... instead of the aging foreigner... hristo, el pibe , nowak, etc.

it's a great thing, imo... strengthens the league by bringing in players that should only improve, instead of decline

chicago just happens to be in a salary crunch at the moment... because they have been in pursuit of titles for the past 5 seasons

Tennyson was property of the Galaxy and played in the A-League. He did spen time with the Galaxy during the playoffs. He's got a future, but the Galaxy right now are too powerful for McKinley to see much time.

Or maybe because the Fire had little cap room the last two years while the Metros basically gutted their roster once Bob came.

Yes. I think you need to re-line your tinfoil hat. The dangerous SEM Gamma Rays are getting to your Cerebral Cortex.

i agree that it is a great thing and it seems to be the trend. but 5'5 and 145 lbs. it's like having another vaca. i'm sure he's talented, but that is REALLY small. even for MLS standards. but i'm sure somebody will prove me wrong.

We all know a soccer players height who plays in midfield is so important in soccer. And how bout in postions like Goal where they are supposed to be big. Never has anyone made it being short.

Good thing players like Pele, Maradona, Tab Ramos, Gordon Strachan, Ariel Ortega, Jorge Campos, etc never got a chance to play.

    Does anyone follow soccer here?

I wouldn't put it that way. Late in the year they were starting Alejandro Moreno, after all, no world beater. It's a matter of the fit. If he fits well with and complements Ruiz, then he could do well for us. If he needs to be the one getting most of the service, he's better off going back to the A-League.

Right now it looks like Chacon will be the guy to complement Ruiz, but that may fall through as he is still unsigned. If he isn't the guy, the door is wide open.

SJMN: "But this is all part of how the league operates, and it's something players and coaches have come to accept. So, Agoos came to training camp with a smile, joking about how he cut his famed ponytail during the off-season."

i made that exact same argument on another board. maradona, the greatest player of the last generation, was 5'6. if the kid has as much skill as advertised, then it will not matter.

one was posted a couple months ago after an indoor exhibition in, i believe nashville or memphis... he had his hair cut then... it was a charity event, and i can't remember who the player is that established it

but there were a ton of mls players there... mathis, donovan, etc.
