I read today that Man Utd sent 3 top youth players to Antwerp for the remainder of the season. Maybe this means he'll get a FA call-up. So is it better to sign with an Erupean youth team than the MLS?? Laugh at Kiro all you want but he has been 'playing' or at least collecting a paycheque in England for quite a few years while better players make less money in the MLS. Seems like that tag, former Manchester Acedemy member, carries some weight.

I'd be interesting to know what Kiro would have been if he hadn't bounced around so much. If he would have been able to get a work permit when he graduated from the ManU academy, maybe he would have been getting regular minutes there the whole time.
It was a nice goal. After some buildup by his teammates, he got the ball at the 18 with his back to the goal. He curled left, towards the middle, and then cracked a rightfooted shot that just tucked into the the (shooter's) left side of the goal. He was also involved in the play that saw Weir get hurt, but it was in no way dirty.

I was on vacation this summer on Cape Cod , rented the house of a Brit .He had Alex Fergusen's biography and I picked it up and read it.The very first chapter mentions how upset Alex was that Kiro was turned down for a work-permit and how he thought Kiro was a really promising player( this book was 5 years old).
I just hope that Kenny wants to play for the US. If this kid is this talented, England may approach him because of his dad like they did with Hargreaves. Let's hope that Bruce or Mooch cap tie this kid.
I knew a guy who headed off to law school saying he was gonna work for the poor and disenfranchized when he graduated. He did well at law school, got an internship with an appellate judge, then went off to make the big bucks. Now he's a sports and entertainment lawyer in CA. Yeah, he's helping the poor man, alright. Idealism is one thing, but the reality is that it's a lot nice to have a decent apartment, a car, money for dinners out, vacations, etc., then barely scraping by in MLS, hoping you might get the callup for the national team. Sorry, but I doubt that many people would turn down sure money for a very remote possibility of playing for Uncle Sam.
Not to mention the fact that the opportunity to live and work in various locations around Europe is quite a rewarding experience for many people regardless of the work.
Cooper... As I have mentioned on another thread the England U 20 coaches are already aware of Cooper...up to the USA to step in first...one of the players sent on loan to Royal Antwerp today by Man U was Eddie Johnson ( the English one )...a striker, currently starting for England U 20's....food for thought...Mike

Re: Cooper... Kenny can't play for England's, or anyone's, U20 team - he's too old. The next World Youth Championships, next year, for U20s is for kids born in 85-86 and anyone playing up. Further, because England competes in the Olympics as part of the United Kingdom along with Scotland, No. Ireland and Wales, there is no English U23 team because, well, what would be the point since there's no event for them to play in. Kenny could play for the US U23 team and if he keeps scoring at this rate, it will be hard for the team to not justify having him into a camp after qualifying. But, if he's ever going to play for England, it will have to be at the senior team level.

Sandon...love your enthusiasm....but Kenny certainly can play for England at u 20 level...they have friendlies on a regular basis...well before any world youth championships....England under 21,s play Holland at Kingston Communications Stadium in Hull on feb 17th..and he would be eligable for that game...I realise that these would only be friendlies..and would not tie him up long term...but strikes me the USA had better start taking notice....the English certainly are...as far as Kenny's preference...he just wants to PLAY....Great Britain competes in the olympics...and as there is no Great Britain in the soccer world they do not ever enter this tournament and for a very good reason...The British do not want to ever set a precedent...and if they entered a Great Britain team it would open the door for fifa to insist they do the same thing for the world cup....no more England...no more Norhtern Ireland, Scotland or Wales...fifa currently looks the other way...in deference to the game being invented in England...as such there will NEVER be a Great Britain in the olympic soccer tournament..because of the unwelcome precedent it would set... mike
