Here's something I didn't think I'd ever see on a couple of counts: first, because it's the Journal Star, second, because I can remember when Bradley was a club team whose members were likely to show up somewhat stoned to matches. Though to to the city's credit, Peoria was always a decent soccer town, thanks largely to the German immigrants.
I like this quote from the Merc article: "Even though Todd Dunivant and Roger Levesque will be playing just 20 miles away from where they did last year, the Stanford seniors will entertain much larger crowds in far bigger stadium." We can only hope that they'll be entertaining "much larger crowds" than our abysmal 11k average of last season...
So do I. The weekly "Move San Jose" posts in the attendance thread were getting tedious. Of course, it just dawned on me that one of the nice things about the off-season is we don't have threads obsessing about attendance.
Wow Jim, you really hit Google hard today, thanks! This is my first time following the SuperDraft, are there usually so many articles about it? I wonder how good the A-League is going to be with all the quality of players it's going to get? I'm guessing, but maybe 30 of the 60 players drafted(not including the 80 who weren't even picked) won't make it onto a MLS roster. It doesn't matter though, it's just good to get rid of the dead wood in the league. -VON
WOW!!! This might be the first time I've seen my hometown paper linked here. If you people had any idea how small the circulation is you'd be severely underwhelmed. A little note to the editor from a lot of you around the world might have a significant impact on the amount of soccer coverage they would provide in the future.
I gotta imagine this article was the result of some prodding by Messiah College fans. Nearby to Carlisle . . . Messiah player taken in MLS draft - Harrisburg Patriot-News Not sure if this was the result of my e-mails this past week or not, but nice that it made the paper.
