So, Champions Cup won't be until at least March, Miami will be hosting exhibition games, and Columbus-KC in OKC to go with KC-Dallas in Tulsa.
isn't centerville a few minutes south of dayton? or do i have my ohio geography all out of whack? (yeah, andrulis is from south of dayton (centerville?) and coached at wright state u.)
mlsnet.com has a link to an interview with Carlos Ruiz, and one question/answer caught my eye: I tried using BabelFish, but it drew a blank on "tenés". Would Carlos be referring to an offer he received from Everton in the past (prior to joining MLS I'd presume), or is he referring to an offer he might have recently received from Everton? http://www.prensalibre.com/app/pls/prensa/detnoticia.jsp?p_cnoticia=46078&p_fedicion=13-01-03
That should be "tienes", but I think it's the voz form of tu used by the Argentines I believe. It means: What offers do you have? I know that there are two from England, one of them is Everton.
Thanks. Back in November 2002, Galaxy GM Doug Hamilton told a Southern Californian newspaper: "If somebody comes in and makes a legitimate offer that quantitatively sends his quality of life to places that we can't take it in MLS, then we need to let the kid go and reach those heights. He likes it here, he has done very well here, he's committed to being here another year, and beyond that we'll see what happens." http://www.pe.com/sports/other/stories/PE_SP_ngalaxy26.e7df.html So it certainly appears MLS is at least open to selling Ruiz for the right price.
Radzinski, McBride, Ruiz. Toss in Buddle or maybe Blanco (or maybe both) and you can have an all-CONCACAF front line at Everton. Sell Rooney for about $30 million somewhere, go buy some decent defenders, and woi-la!! Just kidding for all youz with no sense of humor out there.
I've got a question about this but I don't know if anyone could answer this. Now in the article it says that Washington is out of contract but the Crew retains his rights and their currently in the midst of negotiations. What would happen if the two sides couldn't come to an agreement? Would he be released and available for any team to pick up at now cost, would he have to clear waivers first or would an interested team be required to come up with something of value to the Crew to make the deal go through?
When a player is out of contract (like Washington, Cannon and Barrett) but are negotiating to re-sign with MLS they would end up with their old team again because of the rights the team has to them. If the team didn't want him anymore and he re-signed then the team would either trade him to a team that is interested or if that falls through then put him on waivers for another team to claim. But a player can't be out of contract then sign with MLS and say they want to play for another team. The old team does have say.
They coudn't allow that... No no no... that would almost look like <gasp> free agency. Now shhhh! We don't want any ideas like that around here, do we Curt Flood?
As long as Ruiz stays for another season or so then leaves i'll be happy, but only if MLS gets a good transfer fee. There's enough young players that need time that his departure won't seem so bad. -VON
