Only folks with their hair in a ponytail allowed in this mofo. Everyone else wanting to analyze the heck out of it head over to A&D :D.

Please post all related articles, stalker reports, schmack, predictions, smart ass comments about Heinrichs, pictures, coach potato analysis, and whatever else concering this match up in this bad boy

Only a couple of more days until the very first USWNT match of 2003 begins in beautiful Torero Stadium on the campus of the University of San Diego. FWIW...if you have the means of visiting this place..DO IT!!! Torero/USD is FREAKING GORGEOUS!!! The best WUSA/USWNT stadium (and city) I have been to.

This match will be carried live on ESPN this Sunday at 1pm Pacific Time (if you are a chode and don't know what time zone you are in please PM me and I'll give you a quick lesson on the 4 time zones in the continental United States).

Here are several articles from the USSF site on this match:

    http://www.ussoccer.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=24495

http://www.ussoccer.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsId=25890&itype=113&icategoryid=62 (this one gives the 26 player roster that has to be weened down to two rosters..one for this match and one for the Four Nations Tourney in China later this month).

For those too lazy to click on the link here are the 26 ladies that were invited down to sunny San Diego:

Brianna "Ummm I'll just have a salad thank you" Scurry

Lorrie "How I get called into these camps I don't know" Fair

Christie "I hope my ACL holds up" Pearce

Cat "Don't spell my name Kathryn" Reddick

Tiffany "If those idiots from 'Beg, Borrow, & Deal' come to my house again I WILL KICK THEIR ASSES!!" Roberts

Brandi "Isn't Jerry a little too old for me?" Chastain

Jena "I'm still part of the USWNT pool?" Kluegel

Shannon "I have never ever been to the WUSA playoffs" MacMillan

Heather "I hope these NT games don't interfere with my damn prom" O'Reilly

Aly "Thank God the Power ain't drafting me" Wagner

    Devvyn "Who?" Hawkins

Cindy "You wanna see my pigeon impression?" Parlow

Angela "I'll shine your shoes" Hucles

Joy "I hope my daughters don't ask me and Walter for a baby brother" Fawcett

Kate "There is still a hole in my tongue" Sobrero

Tiffeny "Well thank God I didn't go to Spain to accept Mia's award again" Millbrett

Jenny "I think Erica Iverson is a traitor to the Philly Charge" Benson

Siri "How come Mia kicked me out of her house and is living in a nice condo while I bunk in someone's basement?" Mullinix

Kelly "Chrissy Simms sucks cuz he didn't beat Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout" Wilson

Thori "Why am I here again?" Bryan

Kylie "I'm too stuck up to be hanging out in the ballroom and signing autographs" Bivens

Abby "Did I look stupid in that pig hat or what?" Wambach

Heather "SOB I hope I don't break a nail this week, I have a slutty pictorial I'm doing later" Mitts

Lakeyshia "Well at least Hope Solo ain't here to compete for the #3 spot" Beene

Lindsay "Freaking Portland! Freaking Portland! FREAKING PORTLAND!!!!!!" Tarpley

Jamie "Smolak beat me out!?" Pagliarulo

    ---------------

In somewhat related news and Charge! and nordby1 will have to fill you in on this but Japan played in a scrimmage in which they played against I guess San Diego based players or sumpin' like that earlier today. The hottie Melissa Moore played in this thing and it ended up being a 0-0 draw. If Moore played as a field player in this match she probably would have singlehandedly beat the Japanese by about 14 goals or so.

    FearM9's late night ramblings:

    * I only see Mia playing the first half and then being subbed out in the second. She gets an assist and a goal in the first 20 minutes.

    * Final score -- Japan 1:6 USWNT. Although a sadistic side of me does want to see at least a draw. Why you ask? Well cuz frankly I actually enjoy reading the posts by the Heinrichs bashers about how unprepared this team is and how badly she sucks at coaching.

    * I certainly do hope this match is a sellout. If it isn't then it certainly lends some credence to my theory of the "magic" of the USWNT being D-E-A-D.

    * C'mon Mark Zeigler!!! He does a damn good job on reporting on womens soccer. Although I do take issue with him and his headline titled: "Mia is M.I.A...." (or whatever the headline was) for this upcoming match. Likewise for whoever the soccer reporter is for the North County Times.

    * If you are a New Years resolutioner with hopes of losing weight/getting in shape for 2003...good for you but just stay out of the Boise State University Recreation Center. You guys piss the **** out of me!

    * I am praying like crazy that the USSF site has an article or two on how training camp is going.

    Take note....

NOTE THE KICKOFF TIME: ESPN's coverage of the U.S. Women's National Team will actually begin five minutes before the hour (3:55 p.m. ET / 12:55 p.m. PT), so make sure to tune in early to not miss any of the action. The game will kick off at 1:03 p.m. PT.

That would be a really awesome performance by Mia considering she's not even on the roster.

Say What just pointed this out over in A&D...

Shoot....maybe the USWNT should start holding their matches at local elementary schools. Just pack the minivans...errr guess some of you suburb types drive SUVs nowadays to look "rugged"...with a cooler full of Capri Suns and some lawn chairs.

Obviously she thinks Mia's over the hill and can't contribute to the team any more.

If Mia, Julie and Kristine sitting this one out to continue discussions toward the successful resolution of the CBA renegotiation, then I'm all for it. This needs to get done soon....

Hehe. Didn't a 17-year-old Cramer have prom the night before her NT debut?

Olympia native, Devvyn Hawkins, thank you very much. We'll just forget where she went to HS, lest I start to hate her.

    LMAO

    :p

    Hehehe.

Good question. How does Smolak beat out a NT pool member?

Oooooh. I have an 11:30 meeting (which is about a 20 min walk away). It'd better not interfere with the game. Especially since it's with a bunch of backstabbers who I thought were my friends...not all of them are backstabbers, I just can't tell which ones are yet.

I didn't post it here because I thought that your post of the US Soccer announcement covered just about everything that was in the U-T article. There was a sidebar, though, that indicated that the expected attendance would be 4,500 - still really bad, even with NFL playoffs today...

    BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

  20. Regarding attendance....it is tough to sell a game when you aren't fielding great competition or the "a team". I mean...mia, kristine and foudy not in attendance -- just months before the world cup?

It just makes spectators feel like its not worth their while.

So i don't think USWNT magic is dead...but if ussoccer doesn't take a game seriously, why should fans?

They better have them on the roster when they come to Charleston!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe Mrs. Dino just mentioned that the reason why Scurry wasn't in was cuz of injury. Correct?
