Wow McBride scored!, for some reason I didn't think he would do much. If he keeps it up Everton might try to buy his rights from the Crew. -VON
This is a very important project. I know many of the people involved and I have contributed to this. Tommy Clark, who first thought of this project, is the son of Bobby Clark (the former Scottish goalkeeper and current coach of Notre Dame). He is a former student of mine at Dartmouth Medical School and is now doing a Pediatrics Residency in New Mexico, where he initiated this project. He is a former All American from Dartmouth and has played professionally in several places (including Zimbabwe) where he saw the devastation of AIDs and the good that soccer could do in educating the population about the condition and prevention. His brother, Jamie (some will remember from the Earthquakes) also has played in Zimbabwe and is now assistant coach at New Mexico. these individuals and Ethan Zohn (who the article is about), have found a great way to help the world and I (for one) have taken great pleasure in contributing financially to their efforts. Small contributions go a long way in Zimbabwe. It is a wonderful way to use soccer to contribute immensely to the wellbeing of a nation and I would encourage all to check out grassrootsoccer.com for details. Rand
