Hopefully Blas is back in the lineup. If we're serious about playoffs we need a win.
FCD had looked awful without Ferreira all season. Heck they looked awful with Ferreira in the last encounter with LA (even sans beckham and Donovan).
I can't even emphasize how huge a win would be Sunday night, especially if Vancouver drop points in Portland.
I love that there are still fans out there who think there is still hope. I'm not one of them but I like that they are out there.
Vancouver seems like the best shot at overtaking. Hopefully Portland will get their first win in a while this weekend and FCD will find a way to come away with something, anything, on Sunday.
Before the last two or three games i was quite certain of our fate (although still not hopeless). We've seemed to manage the highly improbable though by beating Vancouver and RSL on the road. Nobody expected us to do that yet we did, and now we are back in the playoff talk. That gives me all sorts of hope If you look at Vancouver's next three games, you'll notice that they aren't exactly easy. Away at Portland, away at L.A., and then away to us. I'm probably putting way too much faith in Portland being able to come away with a result that game (even a point), but i feel like they can do it. They almost tied the RedBulls in NY last weekend, so i don't see any reason that they can't at least tie Vancouver in front of their amazing fans at Jeld-Wen. And when they play us at PHP it is a six point game, with the homefield advantage in our favour. Am i probably going to be extremely disappointed and heartbroken when the end of regular season play comes to an end? Most likely. But oh how sweet it will be if we manage to claim that 5th spot. I will celebrate like a looney and tell everyone i know i told you so
I have a feeling this game will make me want to throw the remote through the tv, much like the San Jose game.
I live for the hope of the playoffs, not the expectation. If we're pushing for a birth in late September then this season is a success.
'Caps lose to the Timbers 1-2. Mattocks also gets sent off with a straight red and will be suspended for their next game at L.A. I'll be okay with a tie tomorrow now
i don't give a damn about this season. Just beat the hell out of the whiney, overpaid bitches in LA. And their fart-snif face of a coach too.
I went through and compared the schedules of the four teams battling for the last two Western conference playoff spots: http://sportdfw.com/2012/08/26/can-fc-dallas-can-still-make-the-2012-mls-cup-playoffs/ My conclusion? Tonight's match is vital. I think they have a better chance of catching LA than Vancouver.
It's been a hell of a weekend in MLS, with so many teams going all out to sneak into the playoffs, so I suspect this game will continue the trend. Right now we're in better form than LA, so I pick us to win 4-3.
Posted this on the MLS N&A forum, wanted to share my thoughts here. I liked the analysis that Matt did here, but I think he's giving Vancouver too much credit (and perhaps LA not enough credit). If you look at more recent form, say since the June FIFA break, here's the records of the 3 teams: Dallas: 5-3-4 (2-1-3 at home, 3-2-1 on the road) - 1.58 ppg LA: 8-3-2 (3-1-0 at home, 5-2-2 on the road) - 2.0 ppg Vancouver: 4-7-3 (3-1-2 at home, 1-6-1 on the road) - 1.07 ppg LA's been doing well at home and on the road, while Vancouver has not been doing well at all, particularly on the road. Dallas has been doing well on the road, so that's a big advantage. Here's a scenario I came up with of how Dallas can catch Vancouver that I think is very realistic, and perhaps even pessimistic from a Dallas perspective: Dallas wins all 3 home matches (vs Seattle, Chivas, and Vancouver) Dallas wins 2 of their 4 road matches (@LA, @seattle, @chivas, @San Jose) So Dallas ends up with 47 points Vancouver wins 3 of their 4 home matches (vs Colorado, Seattle, Chivas, Portland) Vancouver loses all 3 remaining road matches (@LA, @Dallas, @RSL) So Vancouver ends up with 46 points Good luck today, hope you guys beat LA!
20 minutes in, and both teams look even. LA getting the LA treatment, aka every call they want when they fall down.
It's the Beckham rules. Made pretty damn obvious when Beckham whines to the ref at the beginning of the 2nd half about the wall, which has already been marked on the field with the paint, and the ref immediately walks it off for Sir David and remarks it another yard or so further from the ball. When Beckham whines the refs immediately over-rule themselves.
To quote sweeper33, Kevin Stott can eat a bag of dicks. That's a completely different game if he (correctly) sends Dunivant off.
Well i'm disappointed in the result obviously, but i'm not too disappointed in the way we played. Both teams had their chances, and you just felt that this game could go either way the whole time. We couldn't finish our chances and made a huge mistake in the back, thus resulting in a loss. Dunivant not getting a red was BS, but its LA so i'm not surprised. My overall thoughts on this game? F Beckham, f Keane, f Arena and f that whole goddamn team. I hope those whiney ******* get knocked out as soon as possible in the post season
Oh, i forgot to mention about Keane complaining for a handball on Jacobson right after he drills him squarely in the nuts with the ball. Seriously?
