Marta finding space behind the NRWO defense down her right side. Will we see her 1-1 with Branam at some point?

5': Rampone whiffs on a clearance in front of the goal - 6 yds. out. The ball continued through for a TI.

    8:10: Nice block by Bock.

I remember sitting in the LA sun for the WWC'99. This game looks as hot. That will take its toll.

    13' still 0-0

LAS has 8 back on defense looking for Marta on the counter.

    16': HOR draws first blood.

Quick cross off TI from NRWO right side. Kai battles and the ball falls to O'Reilly. Shot deflects off LeBlanc, but she can't keep it out of the net.

Low, mid 80's. Not too bad compared to 90+ in July '99.

27': Red card to Falk !!!

Kai got the inside, goal side about 25 yds out. Looked like Falk and Kai got their feet tangled a bit and Kai went down.

Not sure how this was rated an "obvious goal scoring opportunity" given the other defenders closing in and the distance from the goal.

Allison Falk sent off for either violent contact (elbow to head) or denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity. Probably the former.

I have no idea why the announcers kept going on about an elbow from Falk. It looked to me as if Falk's left leg touched Kai's thigh. Kai went "as an Angel who did not so much Fall as Saunter Vaguely Downwards", as Bon-bon's sig used to say. :)

37': LAS sub. Zerboni, the perpetually offside blonde, off for Canadian defender Sharolta Nonen.

Damn, LAS has some tall women.
