Not to derail your thread, but the title got my attention. I spent a couple of hours talking with Papi and the rest of the Rapids leadership last night along with other bloggers and press. I now get why you guys were so upset to see Pareja leave Dallas. I don't know if he's going to be the long-term solution in Colorado, but I hope he is. (And of all the losses in our 6 game losing streak last month, he seemed most upset about losing to Dallas )
Have to give the guy credit for knowing a train wreck when he sees one. But then again, he's seen a bunch of them.
I would assume Jackson would play RB but he may still be injured. Can Jair play RB and play Rodriguez at LB? Nevermind, I just now remembered SH will probably play Pertuz there. That effectively means the right side is shut down offensively. Do we know who the ref is yet?
As part of the growing ex-Dallas contingent in Colorado, today the Rapids added Dave Dir as assistant/GK coach.
"What's really going on" is that in key positions we rely on too many players who are over 30. Forward (Blas and Sealy), defensive midfielder (Hernandez and de Guzman), creative midfielder (Ferreira). Some of these players are great when they're healthy, but at their ages health is precarious. Ageless players like DeRo who never seem to miss a game are rare. You've got to have experience and proven talent on a team, but you've also got to have backup plans for when those players get hurt. Hyndman's backup plans this year, particularly at forward and DM, consisted of other over-30 players and out-of-position players. "What's really going on" is that Hyndman is a bad coach.
Anybody found a workable link on the internet? Atdhe doesn't seem to be working. Edit: Nevermind, they finally got it right. Luna starting???
Castrillon just scored from a ball from Mullan for the Crapids. Atdhe has a working link now, provided you are adept enough to wade through the ads and crap.
Shea is starting on the left, with Castillo on the right. Personally, I'd like to see Shea get more time as a right winger since he likes to drift inside and might have a better shot from that angle with his left foot. But, what do I know.
Ferreira and Luna looking active, but as a team not much cohesion. Luna Shea Castillo Ferreira Jacobson De Guzman Benitez Hedges John Pertuz Hartman
Benitez has looked decent, but just got hot-headed again trying to start shit. Of all people, Shea got in between and tried to settle him down. Good for Shea.
