wiese is unhappy at not being selected. I would be too if a benchwarmer, keeper from a lesser team, and a 21 year old was picked ahead of me.

But shouldn't have come out in public and slagged those who were selected though.

Are you sure Lahm will be the captain ??
If he will, he must be the youngest captain ever for Germany ;)

    Depends on who plays...

    ;)

Schweinsteiger and Mertesacker are both younger.

It was right from him to say something,
Wiese showed great performances in league, cup and CL
and saved our *** several times.
The way he did it wasn´t very helpfull for his NT career.

Maybe in football manager, but, sorry, i am biased as Wiese plays for Werder.
I can agree with "Neuer fits from character aspects better in the NT" or
"Neuer suits better than Wiese in Loews system", but from performance
aspects Wiese is a not worse than the ones nominated by Loew.

I agree. Wiese should be in the squad. Whether he replaces hildebrand or neuer I don't know. I guess neuer as hildebrand's dressing room influence might be something that we don't see from the outside. He's a part of the furniture now. So until it actually comes time to select a keeper who will start for the team, he can stay.

He had no chance at Loew, because he neither fit
in a Nutella commercial nor has a Swabian background.
After his statement against the NT goalkeepers he has absolute no chance,
one could say Wiese is stupid to do such "no go", but he sensed
    in which situation he is.

For me Loew doesn´t stand to his word.
He said, he choose players based on performance
and nominates Podolski, Hildebrand and Odonkor.
At Odonkor i could understand if he would argue with tactical surprise
element or something like this, but chosen based on performance, c´mon.

Players selection is also a questionable point.
He nominates injured Fritz for the England match and wondered,
that he couldn´t help him. Maybe he should speak with other people
to get information about the players outside the clubs, that he visits.

    Klose will captain the team.

    Probable lineup:

Lehmann – Friedrich, Metzelder, Mertesacker, Pander (Jansen) – Hilbert (Trochowski), Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Hitzlsperger – Klose, Kuranyi

Wiese probably is my favorite goalkeeper (or at least one of them) but IMHO he isn't quite suitable for the German NT. While on the line he easily ranges among the very best goalkeepers in the world he has some serious issues when it comes to plucking down crosses. His lack of footballing skills and his big mouth won't get him any further either...

Klose will be captain, that's also what I read. Lahm might play dm again, but Kicker claims to know that he returned to right back in training, leaving the other position for Rolfes.
I'm not convinced the latter deserves to be called up at all, but I hope he will prove me wrong.

I agree. His style is similar to the one Kahn playes who as been sorted out because he was not in form and because his style was too outdated for the way the national team plays. I think both Kahn and Wiese would have major problems in todays lineup and we would probably concede more because of their weakness of handling the ball outside the box, crosses and one on one situations. I don't think Loew would have ever invited him anyway

Lahm is out for the Wales and Romania match due to a knee injury.

We still have a fine defense and striker force but our midfield is looking alarmingly thin now, even worse than before the England match. I think Loew planned to play Lahm in defensive midfield again but now he has to make the best of it. I fear Wales will give us some trouble but I still think we will get out on top. Look what Slovakia did to Wales in Cardiff and even with a weaker team we are better than Slovakia.

But Wales will not play as bad as they did against Slovakia.

god, this game has draw written all over it. It's a shame cuz with our full squad, we could've tore wales a new one. I guess the silver lining is that we are only playing 1 qualifier. It would've been horrendous if it was 2 games. Imagine if we had the czechs and the irish lining up against us this week. I'm holding onto the last shred of hope.

    ugh..Lahm is out. Bad news.

Maybe Löw will go further and try it with Lehmann on a more suitable role for him in defensive midfield. :) Just standing around acting as obstacle, some kind of Ramelow, you know?. :D

Let's not pull the regional bias card. This is the first time I've heard of loew having any such bias.

So we won't win 5:1 but 2:1 or whatever. ;) Have some confidence in the team. They managed England against all odds and they will hopefully manage Wales too. Wales are not good, they lost against any team better than hobby squads like San Marino.
Just don't let them score first because then they will do they typical British bus parking.

Without Giggs, there's not much chance of them scoring first. In other news, I'm glad Klose will be captain for the game. Personally, I would have given him the captaincy over Ballack for the WC in the first place. Whatever, captian for a game is good enough for me.

What do you guys think the line-up/formation will/should be now that Lahm is out? I'd like to see this one:

    --------------------------LEHMANN--------------------------
    ----------------MERTESACKER--METZELDER------------------
    -A. FRIEDRICH---------------------------------------JANSEN-
    --------------HITZLSPERGER--SCHWEINSTEIGER--------------
    -TROCHOWSKI--------------------------------------PANDER-
    ---------------------KLOSE---------------------------------
    --------------------------------KURANYI--------------------

But Hilbert will probably get the start over Trochowsi.
