A win would be huge, but I'm not sure we've turned that corner yet.
Even the *real* galaxy fans are upset they won't be there, though for obvious competitive reasons not the fawning and screaming reasons. It's always a good game due to the larger then usual attendance, though the above mentioned Beckham fans due bring it down some. Plus I love the fact that I can sit in my regular seats and cheer on the Galaxy and only get a few stray looks from the other regulars, though it might be a little more interesting being pretty near where DFE sits. Let's hope it's a good game and no more long storm delays like last year.
What's better? 1) Greater attendance and taking in the pleasure of witnessing the disappointment on the faces of the fake LA fans. or 2) Normal attendance and not having fake LA fans at the game.
Normally I would have predicted our schizophrenic selves to tie/lose to Portland and then come out and whip LAG. Now I really have no idea other than to say that we should win this one and expect to score a few goals. I really hope coach doesn't tweak the lineup too much other than Brek (I am even fine with him being a sub with as well as C-Rod played) and maybe a DM rotation (JdG for DH). I'd like to see Castillo come off the bench late whether we are tied/behind needing a goal or ahead and keeping their backline honest. FCD 2-1.
That's the thing. We probably will still see a sellout (butts in seats-wise) because those people don't pay enough attention to know that both are out of the game until they realize halfway through the game that they don't see them on the pitch.
Not sure how much of a litmus test it is when they're missing their two best players. Kind of like teams playing FCD most of this year and feeling they accomplished something when Ferreira, Blas, John, Ugo and Shea were not playing.
Is this game still going to be a sellout ? With otherwise pitiful attendance, I'd hate to think Beckham fans will outnumber FCD fans. Also, anyone know the scuttlebutt why the Southmost entrance to the East parking lot was chained off for the Portland game ? I hope they do not make this a habit; it really screws up getting in/out of the parking lot quickly.
The game is going to be a sellout, been getting hit with emails/tweets from the ticket people pushing standing room only and "field" seats as being the only things left.
A test for a team trying to turn their season around against a team they're competing with for a playoff spot. I don't care if their whole first team is out, you got a big game like this at home you need to win that mother F'er.
Haha brilliant! But seriously, it's true. Like SH said after the (I think) Colorado game, there's no wiggle room if we want to get into the playoffs. Of course, if we don't (and sometimes I wonder), then it's a great chance to play some youngsters!
So one of the largest crowds ever are mainly / primarily there to watch Becks/Donovan who won't be there. That aught to please a lot of folks. I only care if they are there to see them lose to FCD. If they are star struck then Nelson Muntz has a laugh for them.
Okay, I must have missed some news. Beckham and Donovan played in the MLS All-Star (exhibition) game, but they will not be available for the FCD game ???
Right, Donovan has yellow card acculuation (I believe), and it's sounding more and more like Beckham will have some part of the opening ceremony (although at the MLS All Star Game, he stated that he won't say what specifically he's doing just yet... )
My first MLS game ever was unfortunately at the Home Depot Center, but I did finally get to see my beloved FCD play. It ended in a tie (April 28 this year), but I had a blast. I'd really love to crush them this time around. It'd make me so happy, even without Beckham and Donovan, to drive them into the ground like we did against Portland. PS 1000th BS post
Beckham would rather be at the London Olympic Opening ceremonies than playing against the World Renown FC Dallas futbol club ?
