So this confuses me, isn't his contract technically owned by MLS, an American entity? I haven't heard of baseball players or NBA players having to wait when they get traded...very odd.
I think it has to do with being employed by MLS but in Canada where he is a citizen. He needs a US visa and work permit to stay permanently here instead of just visiting.
