I just wanted to recognize the greatness of the titles of the last few games threads. "Game of Groans" indeed. Well done!

Just the last few? ;) Thanks, I'm trying hard not to replicate the same ones twice, I need to start writing all of them down. I almost named this thread "Scape Goats" then did a quick search to realize that I already did that for a game last year against these clowns.

LOL, that is a particularly good one. Nice.

Honestly, Chivas is a solid team this year. Their chemistry is through the roof and they seldom allow easy goals or make mental mistakes in the back. Dan Kennedy is goalkeeper of the year right now. And with the addition of Agudelo, if he can perform consistently, they could sneak into the playoffs ahead of Colorado. I would not have looked at this as an easy game for us even if we hadn't gone on the long winless streak. Toronto is a better opportunity to get one for the W column, if Mariner can't turn them around first.

    2-0 Chivas.

Believe it or not I think we find a way to not win this one. We may get a tie. But either way this will be as much fun as watching 2 ten year olds play Yahtzee.

Will we have 3 defensive midfielders or 4 defensive midfielders?

    Does it matter anymore?

With Bocanegra apparently going to the whitecaps on a free transfer from Rangers maybe Shellas and the boys can pick up Edu from the Rangers on a freebee before tomorrows game vs the goats and we can have a lineup with like 5 defensive mids...

First game of Summer ! Sunny and "Only" mid-90s, should be one of our "cooler" Summer games...

I think this will be the "hottest" game of the year. So how close to a sell-out ? :p

Why ? Because all soccer fans will be watching the World Soccer Masters Tour tonight ?:p
Although watching an All-Star game on TV would be in air-conditioned comfort....

It is not enough to lose. FCD loses is spectacular fashions. Heartbreaking losses. I think FCD takes a lead, and finds a way to lose.

    Seedy Chicas 2-1.

Agreed. Probably with a red card or two to guarantee a Goats' win.

Toronto-New England *SPOILER*, although the game isn't even half over yet:

Mariner has indeed turned them around. We can no longer expect to beat Toronto, either.

Interesting lineup. Looks like a system change witha 4-4-2. Shea and Sealy up top, AJ and DH holding, with Carlos Ruiz and Lloyd outside backs, Hedges and Pertuz in central defense with Castillo at wide left and Jackson at wide right mid. Hartman in goal.

Those that were wanting the homegrown, are not getting their wish. SH looking for 3 points.

    Dear anyone,

Please sub in an attacking player and at least look like you want the 3 points.

    Sincerely,
    A fan

Matt Hedges is going to be really, really good.

This isn't and won't we the last time that a visiting team tried to make the FCD back four start the attack. Hedges can pass.

0-0. Blah. Am I just grasping at straws or should that have been a PK at the very end?

It looked like one, but it's not the most shocking development in the world that a ref swallows his whistle at the end of the match.

Well, he wasn't really in a dangerous position, was he? I'd have eaten the whistle there as well.

I can't say that it's what I would've done, but I would've been pleasantly surprised if he had pointed to the spot, simply because you almost never see that.

I thought given the circumstances, it was a fair result. In fact, you could say that Moreno should've buried that early chance, as he is a solid poacher and that is pretty much all that he does.

How pissed was DH when Jackson told him he was taking corners now?

Either FCD was doing something right or Chivas was playing it safe; they were pretty much pinned in their own half with only the occasional foray into FCD's half in the second half. The only thing missing was that quality shot or lucky rebound in goal mouth. We are due for some luck. At least no stupid, game-changing fouls this time.
