Damn! What a BOOMING shot by Kamler!!!! Perfectly placed cannon. That had better end up on MLS Wrap tonight. Sometimes it pays to miss the ball (Ralston). So far, so good, though 4 CKs in 5 minutes at the start was nervewracking.
The striker in Kamler is coming out again... Paule got his revenge, though. Revs really need Rusty out there, though. Cunny is running roughshod over our defense.
It may be needed. The second goal: someone/many forgot Dunseth, but if the ball wasn't mis-headed he never gets a foot on it. Bad bounce. Even with 2 goals, very solid game by Adin thus far.
This may be the best match I've seen all season. Pat Noonan plays with the confidence of a veteran. Gotta lose that haircut though. Only Kyle Martino is saving him from the worst haricut on the pitch prize.
Twellman made what turned out to be the perfect run. He's really starting to learn how to create space for himself. Noonan's been fantastic, and not just because of the assists either. Great ball work.
I've been very impressed with Noonan. I would really like to see what he could do if he started a couple of games instead of Wolde while Joe Max is out. Very nice win by the Rev's. This is the kind of game past Revolution teams would have lost.
Another spiritied showing from the boys in blue. Damn good stuff! A radical thought for the next match that JMM isn't available for: start Noonan next to TnT instead of Wolde. Wolde tries very hard to be a setup guy, but it's not his forte - he's too much of a target guy. Noonan, on the other hand... well, after tonight's showing, he should get a start up front to see what he can do for a full 90. He looked like a natural!
Great game made all the better by the fact I had Kamler, Noonan, and Dunseth all going for my fantasy team this week.
I agree with the comments regarding Noonan starting over Wolde. Noonan has looked very good in limited time, and I think he could start looking much better if he can get a goal or two.
This Rev Team is for real. For the first time in franchise history the Revs have a team---a real team with depth and real quality at every position. This was a major test match and they showed that they have the depth and confidence of a team that can win any against any team in MLS. There will be hard matches to come but this team will not be beaten easily. WELL DONE! I agree that Noonan has earned a start up top. George
I was sure Brad Feldman had jinxed the game by predicting that Twellman would score. Brad, you're a genius. I noticed Twellman checking his teeth late in the game after a clash with Mike Clark. But Twellman got the final bite out of him.
Wow. Okay, back in the day I was usually pretty cynical on Topica, but man oh man, what a game this was. That last 35 minutes was quite a game, and I'm happy that it was on FSW. I really like the FSW show -- even with a studio show (Harkes should have realized it was TT that scored, not Kamler on the game winner). I even liked the commentators. The game itself...what can you say--impressive saves by Brown, the Crew putting everything they had into it, and amazing seeing eye ball pass by Noonan and boom. This was so good, I may even have to come down to see a game. Where's Kfoury?
They said an ankle sprain. As for the Revs, this team is getting better and better as we move along. I never felt they weren't going to get at least a draw and then that Noonan/Twellman combo gives them the the 3 pts. The question is, did Noonan conciously make that flick or was it by accident. Harkes on FSW afterward said he thought Noonan basically got lucky. I'm not so sure. That was one heck of a way to win the match though. Go Revs!
We kept attacking and took the lead on 3 occassions... this team is fearless! The past 4 or 5 games have been the best run in franchise history. While I'd also like to see Noonan starting next to Twellman on Saturday, it wouldn't surprise me to see the conservative Nicol go with Wolde again, with Noonan coming on again around the 60th minute. It's essentially the same situation as in central midfield, where Hernandez does more in his 30 minutes than Cullen does in his 60, but Nicol sticks with what works. Noonan brings a different look to the offense, he seems to have a knack for finding direct passes that put players in good positions. The combo work with Kamler and especially the touch on Twellman's goal were brilliant (regardless of Harkes' cynicism, Noonan's body language said to me that he knew exactly what he was doing). After a lackluster start to the MLS season, Rev games have become quite exciting and absorbing. I can't wait until Saturday to see them live again, I haven't looked forward to a regular season game this much in recent memory.
Now we're even. One of the things I love about this Rev team is how hard it is to pick a man of the match. Every one of these recent gems has had so many bright spots. Was Kamler's first goal prettier or Brown's save in the second half? Quien es mas macho? Did anyone else have a feeling TnT was going to score? Rising stars: Noonan - could hardly have had more impact in 10 minutes. Could he be TnT's ideal 2nd banana? Joseph - The dropoff in control and possession when SJ went out was frightening. I will breathe easier when I hear that he is healthy. Setting stars: Wolde - slightly klunky touch, passes slightly off, never dangerous. Cullen - Role player, sometimes a little behind the play. Should have been carded for his tackle on Martino. On the Crew side, Cunningham is playing as well as I have ever seen him, and Dunseth perhaps as well. Martino seemed rattled by being manhandled, and can expect much more of the same from the rest of MLS. Maissoneuve was much missed. This one had to hurt.
The winning goal was so good I watched the tape several times right after the match ended. At first, Noonan didn't know where the ball was when it was in the air but as soon as it came down, one could see him spotting Twellman. One hell of a flick. I seriously doubt it was by accident.
Re: Now we're even. I would agree with the above, but I also can see where Nichols likes Joseph over Hernadez, Daniel was basically lazy in their, doesn't possess the passing skills and doesn't track back effectively on defense as Joseph. Joseph seems to read the game well and is always in the passing lanes def picking off balls. I can still remember liking Kamler when he had to wear the facemask all year for DC, I like him even better playing well for us. Go REVS
Harkes is an idiot. When Harkes played for the Revs, he "basically got lucky" when one of his passes made its way to a Revolution player.
A word about Cunningham I know, it's kinda OT since this is the Revs forum. But his play reminds me of Welton in a Rev kit back in the day. All action up until a SOG is attempted. Amazing speed, but that's about it.
Re: Wow. Back in the day, huh? Um, he's been there all along. Come into the light Dan! You can do it! How about May 31? amy Check out the Midnight Riders pages
