It turns out that was not the call. It was a foul on Gauvin. Probably called for the collision. I am not sure I agree with that as I think, even though I played and coached keepers, that keepers are WAY overprotected.
their biggest mistakes is 1) not picking for NT the leading scorer of the French League, Katoto 2) not starting Cascarino(but guessing with a possible 120 min. game scenerio) she might get playing time later
Agree. Start Thiney and Cascarino. Shoulda brought Katoto for offensive spark. Also, I miss Louisa Necib. This brutish game needs a serious dose of her artistry.
Maybe, but neither of these players are playmaker. And Brazil loves to go end to end type of game. Thiney to WNT is like Griezmann to their 2018 MNT.
Yeah, that’s a tough call. My first thought was that it may have deflected off Gauvin’s hand and thus couldn’t count per the new FIFA rules.
Yeah. But only after I'd read your post. A couple of times because I didn't know what you were talking about. I'm on the East Coast streaming it on hulu.
Brazil needs to sub out Ludmila and bring on Beatriz ASAP. It really sucks they lost both Fabiana and Andressa Alves. More creativity and ball control needed on the flanks.
I don't know why the Fox team isn't clarifying this. That knowledge prevents what is still a highly controversial call from being flat out outrageous.
I do not really know why but I HATE back passes, even if it is the "best" option. Every time I see one I just think "there has to be a better option."
Actually they did. They reported at the end of the half that they had received a note saying that. Of course I only heard them say that once.
I love France, the people, the place, the food everything. My immigrant ancestor to the USA was a Frenchman. But I want Brazil to win, no real reason.
Diani seemingly can get to the end line anytime she wants. All tournament long. This Diani to Gauvin connection stands this time. France 1-0.
As much as Marta is being lauded at GOAT, I will miss her partner in crime Cristiane too. She’s still dangerous even at 34, with plenty of tricks and flicks.
Diani has been really devastating in this beginning of second half: the player France needed. She showed up!
50' 0-0 Asseyi to Henry at 32m box right, one-touch backpass to Asseyi (and Henry gets bumped down). Asseyi cuts centerward to 24m center, passes to Le Sommer unmarked at 15m wide left. Le Sommer bends a shross but shanks it wide left toward left side netting, Bárbara inexplicably reaches out and touches it. Ruled already fully over endline. 52' 1-0 Bouhaddi gk, up right touch. Torrent(?) passes to Diani at 33m right touch facing away, with Tamires caught that high against her back. Diani spins ccw past Tamires down right touch, outruns her through 6m box right to 2m mid-right. Ground cross to 3m 1/4 right, Bárbara dives out and misses, Gauvin back-cuts Kathellen, slides and volleys into left side netting high. Tamires was caught high on that touchline at least once in 1H, and this time Diani punished it. Can't take that one away! Gauvin puts the ball in the net again after a great run and cross from Diani, and France get their 1-0 lead. #FIFAWWC pic.twitter.com/czo21hzleE— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) June 23, 2019
Are we not gonna talk about that Brazil header/France save? If it hadn't been perfectly horizontally aligned with Bouhaddi that would have been the equalizer.
