It should be a perfect evening for football (and an even better day for drinking at the St. Patrick's Day Parade on Lower Greenville Ave.)

Word. Going to that bright and early, then FCD game, then taking my lady to House of Blues for a show after. Planning on being drinking/drunk the whole day, thank the gods I have a late game Sunday because it might be an ugly hangover.

Is this scrimmage open to the public? The SMU games was on the practice field and free, but this is apparently at PHP.

Just don't want to drive up to Frisco and get turned away because it's a private practice.

If it is open to the public, is it free?

Huh? The Chivas game is an official exhibition charity match. $10 for non-STH with proceeds going to charity I believe. Link to Ticketmaster (but I would just pay at the gate)

Or are you referring to the Central Arkansas scrimmage on Sunday? It's listed here as being on the adidas field so you should be good. http://www.fcdallas.com/news/2011/03/fc-dallas-training-report-310

I somehow missed all that. $10 is fine with me, just wanted to make sure it wasn't a private scimmage.

A better title for the thread would be "The Men Who Beat Off On Goats", but props nonetheless.

Chivas USA Facbook guy posted some pics and I told him to tell someone that the stream isn't working. He responded saying they are working on getting it up. <Fingers Crossed>

FCD was tweeting about it till about halftime, then they said it's a server problem that can't fix themselves.... so I think it's not going to happen.

2-0 FCD, Luna scores. Conrad two yellow and is gone. Pearce and Luna got into a scuffle.

Just got back from the game. Was most impressed by Villar and Brek. Brek looks great back in center D, but still makes a couple of bone-headed passes that could cost us. He'll learn though. Most had me worried about Villar, but he looked good. That's all I got, everyone else played normal. No Hartman, not even on the bench. Guess he got the night off.

For those of us who didn't see the game (or any other pre season games for that matter), can you tell us what the starting lineup was?

I am especially curious who is playing winger besides Chavez if Brek has dropped back to CD? Is the general consensus that Brek will feature at Center Back this season? I understand that Ugo is still recovering but once he and George John are together Brek at backup Center Back (can't see him displacing either of those two) seems like a colossal waste of talent.

Avila was left winger. Brek did look good. Neither Hartman or Ugo were on the bench I think.
Luna scored on a classic poacher and had a screamer off of a beautiful cross from Chavez saved miraculously. Hernandez scored on a sweet free kick. Looked like DF played withdrawn stiker with Hernandez/Alexander as middies but I could be wrong. Good crowd. Going to be a fun season.

Didn't see Pearce and Luna, but Luna had Conrad in his pocket. First, his goal was sneaking onto a back pass from Conrad to Thornton. One touch, in the net. Then, he drew the first yellow on Conrad by just pissing him off, and then Conrad tripped Marvin (I think) at midfield a minute later.

The comparisons between Luna and Ruiz are not totally ridiculous. Besides the instinct for sticking the ball in the net, Luna seems to have a certain Fish-like ability to get under the skin of opposing players. Conrad and Pearce are experienced enough not to let young punks get to them. And yet...

    More thoughts...

Shea did look really good in the back. I only remember one mis-hit pass. Several other long, cross-field passes, and some attacks on the dribble out of the back, plus he and John had the Chivas strikers in their pockets all night. I can't remember Seitz making a save.

That's as much skill as I've ever seen from a back four. For a while, Chivas tried to press. Brek, Jair, John, and Jackson just dribbled and passed out of pressure like they weren't even there.

    Chavez looks really, really good.

    Anyone know where Hartman was?

I agree it is going to be a fun season with lots of competition for positions.

I am going to keep an open mind for the first half of this season. It just felt like every position was going to be open.

Chavez speed is obviously good but I am not sure that guy is EVER going to be able to close the deal or make that final move to score.

But I am pretty positive. I think we have some good solid folks to play defense while we try to figure out the best way to man the attack.

I actually felt like DF was roaming too much. It's almost like he chilled the ability of the other attackers to work because he was all over the place.
