I'm very interested to see how good Campos will be. MLS has gotten Montero, Escalada, then Vitti to hopefully follow in the footsteps of Toja, but can Campos join this group? And now its great that we get another side of the negative British journalism. Back in 2007 they said that Beckham wasn't capable of playing good soccer anymore, and that's why he signed with a mickey mouse league to get a big paycheck. Now, they see MLS didn't ruin him, he actually couldn't waltz his way through games and score goals, and that mickey mouse league is about to get major money for letting him go. So now they ridicule Americans for not being satisfied with a multimillion dollar star not even trying on the pitch. Ah, the Brits. And I don't think people can say he was a failure. I don't have to point out everything, because articles have done that already, but with several successful DP's, more interest in the league, stadiums, investors, expansion franchises, marketing, and on and on and on and on. Beckham was always more of a marketing ploy than a soccer signing, but 5 goals and 12 assists isn't horrible either. He's done what he was signed for, just not to the extent that all of us hoped.
Brit? Bret. Brit. No. Bret. Britinay? No, Bret...B-r-e-t. I'm from New Zealand. There's Vikings there. Right? Ah...yeah.

Or maybe this particular seven times domestic title winner (in two countries) who has also transformed England into a football team after years of mediocrity just happens to know what he's talking about.
Or maybe he happens to be Italian, with a bias toward Italian football. Unless you happen to agree with him, in which case, that's completely impossible and his opinion is infallible.
Yeah, but that analysis if off. More pressure? Stronger? MLS is a very physical league with little reward for flashy players. Serie A has been characterized as a slower league where older players can thrive instead of fall behind like they would in Spain, Germany, and England. Serie A is a better league, but those two descriptions are off.

If Capello would more likely pick Beckham if he's playing with AC Milan than the LA Galaxy, then yes, I'd say he's very involved.

No you're right. The fact that Italy has won 4 WCs, and their league has produced countless European trophies is something I should completely disregard because, erm, he might have an Italian bias. At the end of the day, you wouldn't be this ignorant if we were talking about a foreign player in the NBA and we were listening to an NBA coach talk about that player improving since he came to America. Capello called him in as a squad player, and I think everyone was thinking Beckham really was on his last legs as an international. However, the whole football world really has misjudged his ability because as Capello says, Beckham *has* improved since playing in the Italian league. I find it amusing that people on here whinge about small salary caps and empty stadiums but have such thin skins when a world renowned expert dares to suggest that David Beckham has *gasp* got better playing in one of the best leagues in the world instead of MLS. Yes, yes you're right. Capello hates MLS.
That is so funny! Erm, no he isn't. I live in London and don't know of a single person who hates Capello. In fact, your statement is about as correct as this one: "Seattle Sounders FC is a disaster waiting to happen."
One thing about all of these English threads/articles/comments. The vast majority of the people here in the US have never ever seen anything like the English media. Just don't understand it or how it works.
